Who are some of the best, most consistent finishers in NASCAR's Nextel Cup on the Road Courses? Maybe like a top 10 or 12 drivers for these style courses.

One additional question: Do you think Juan Pablo Montoya will do well with his previous racing experience?

Mark Martin is #1 on this list even though he's not entered for the race at Sonoma. He is the model of consistency with an 8.5 average finish in 37 career races, with 4 wins AND 29 top 10s, on road courses. Number 2 is Tony Stewart with an impressive 8.6 average and 5 wins in 16 races. Of course Jeff Gordon is on this list with the most road course victories of any active driver, 9, and an average finish of 11.3 in 28 races. Ricky Rudd has to be in this conversation, he's going into the Infineon Raceway hall or wall of fame this weekend. He has 4 wins and an average finish of 12.8 in 37 attempts. Denny Hamlin has proven he can handle himself on a road course and has won at Mexico in the Busch series but he only has 2 starts in the cup series. He still has an impressive average finish of 11. Ryan Newman, Kevin Harvick, Jamie McMurray and of course Robby Gordon are all in the top 10 for road racers. For the "road cours ringers" you also have to acknowledge Boris Said, Ron Fellows and Scott Pruett. Everyone is expecting Juan Pablo Montoya to contend for road course wins right off the bat and he was really impressive in HIS win at Mexico this year, though he did spin a teammate (Scott Pruett) out in the process. Because Juan is so great on restarts I think he will land in the top 5 at Infineon and maybe challenge for the win. Here's the link with the stats that I have used for this answer.

I would have to say that Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart are the top 2 road course racers.

Of the ringers, Ron Fellows, Scott Pruett and Boris Said are the best. Said is usually in the mid-teens, while Fellows and Pruett run up front more offen. Pruett unfortunately is not racing this weekend.

Robby Gordon and Kevin Harvick have both ran well at road courses. Robby could have another good run at the road course, seeing how he has been running lately.

Martin Truex Jr. and Denny Hamlin have also proved that the can be competitive at road courses. Both have won at the Mexico road course in the Busch Series.

I would not count out Casey Mears though with how he has been running.

As for Montoya, I think he will once again annoy someone with how he races. He will probably be racing to hard and the resullt will either be him spinning or spinning someone else out.

that is not honest, and that i think of it merely shows that the gang or the driving force isn't useful whilst it includes driving highway classes. i'm taken aback that Raines have been given replaced, the #ninety six group is definitely interior the best 35, it rather would not make experience to me in any respect. Waltrip curiously needs the MWR autos interior the teach to fulfill the sponsors, because of the fact the two the #00 and the #fifty 5 are nowhere close to entering into the best 35, so proprietor factors are actually not liable to be the reason in the back of his pass. talking of the #00, Reutimann has no highway direction adventure, yet that could not be an excuse to pass them. And what occurred to Mayfield? The #36 motor vehicle isn't even working this week, particularly that's the #23 motor vehicle being pushed by utilizing somebody else. I won't even worry pointing out the #37 and #40 9 autos, they are junk anyhow.

The best full time drivers at the road courses are
Tony Stewart
Jeff Gordon
Robby Gordon
Kevin Harvick
Ryan Newman
Kurt Busch
Jeff Burton
Elliott Sadler
Carl Edwards
and I would say Juan Pablo Montoya, because of his experience, and he did win the Busch Series road course race in Mexico, earlier this season.
Some guys that run well on road courses, who do not run full schedules are
Terry LaBonte
Boris Said
Ron Fellows
P.J. Jones
Brian Simo

Well I believe Jeff Gordon holds the most wins, Robby Gordon used to be good, Rudd was good, Stewart always a threat some guys always have good finishes, like Jr. but he plays a pit strategy game which is fine, but he doesn't really do all that well at actually driving on road courses. Truex and Hamlin could definately do well someday. This is a car of tomorrow race and it should be awesome seeing them curb hop and muscle that sucker all over that track. The hairpin turn should be an exciting place to be!! Montoya would do well if he would get a different attitude. He had a horrible attitude in F1 and a major reason he isn't there is because of it.

Jeff Gordon is considered the best road course driver currently racing in Nascar's Nextel Cup. Robbie Gordon, and Boris Said have alot of road course experience HOWEVER, don't count any of the drivers out. They all seem to love the bumps and curves of road course racing. It should be a great race this weekend!!
