I can be on the Internet and then do something else in my document folder and come back on the web page and my modem has hung up, usually after about 15 minutes. How can I make it not hang up for 30 minutes.

I did what you all said , I changed it to 30 minutes and clicked OK---but it still hangs up after 15 minutes of non-use.

You can set the amount of idle time before hang up easily. In Windows XP

Go to Start> Control Panel (some computers Settings then Control Panel)>Network Connections>Right click on your dial-in Icon and choose properties> click on the options tab and you will see Idle time before hangup change the time in the drop down box to the time you want. Then click OK. and its changed.

Start->Control Panel->Network Connections
Right click on the connection that you are using, Properties.
Switch to options tab.
Find "Idle time before hanging up:" set it on 30 minutes...

That's it.
