I think the Air Force. Their are many Air Force jobs that can be carried over to civilian life if you decide not to make a career of it. Most don't require you crawl in the mud or live on a ship for long periods.

The best answer I can give you, is that it would depend on what you want to do with the rest of your life. Each branch of the service is honorable. If, for example you wanted to become a policeman in civilian life, then here are the choices. Join the air force, and go to a technical school. After graduation, you become a Law Enforcement specialist, and do everything that a policeman would do, from investigate traffic accidents to issue parking tickets. You would get college credits and could end up with an AA degree in Criminal Justice. If, on the other hand you join the Army, you would be in a similiar circumstance, but, some of your time would be spent in the field, as a soldier. In the army, you are a soldier first, and a policeman second, so if they needed soldiers at the place you were stationed, you wouldn't be a policeman, you'd be a soldier. You could still take college courses, and eventually get a degree. If you joined the navy, you could become a shore patrol, but in most cases, that is an extra duty, not a full time job.

The best branch of the military to join is a toss up to me. Air Force or Coast Guard. The pay and benefits are the same through all of the U.S. Armed forces. The Air Force is great and it is a good branch if you want to see the world. The Coast Guard would be cool, because they have all the purposes of the Navy, but you get to save lives. The Air Force is currently downsizing, which kinda sux, but if you work in a career field that is critically manned, then you are ok. What I would do if I were you is go to college, get your Bachelors degree and join the military as an Officer. Better pay and better jobs. So join as an Officer in the Air Force and you will have it made.

First you can judge all for the act of a few or one . The Marines are a division of the Navy and the Navy is a division
of our military as a whole . They all have different mission .
Last I heard is that 60% of the Navy is on the ground in Iraq.
I was in the Navy and only used ships for transport to different
sectors of the world and for support of our ground missions .
But it all depends on what you are able to do and want for the
most part . You first need to be tested by the armed forces to
see your options & possible placements . Then you can have
a better idea of what is availible to you . Take your time , go
slow it is a enlistment and they own you once swore in . You
opt for delayed entry to better secure the field that interest you. I myself would go back in the Navy , they have a lot to offer
and if stationed on a ship it is easier to further you education
with distant learning programs while attached . You are more
then welcome to email me with other questions to better
secure the best possible experience in our military . Thank you for considering protect my freedom and the freedoms of
people around the world not to mention the support ofour brothers/sisters in the service already . EX VET....

My Friend, as sad as it is we do have our share of bad people in the US military. Please try not to let that sway your opinion of the rest of our fine folks in uniform. That being said the best branch of the US military... not an easy question because people Join each for various reasons. I joined the USMC because I wanted the challenge and to be part of the Best. The other Branches have their Pros and Cons.
The Army easiest to get into ASVAB 16%, great for those that need structure and an oppotunity where the outside world is knocking them around. The Army allows those unachievers an opportunity to achieve on the ground...LOL
The Navy ASVAB 21%, Same as the Army but on the Water...LOL Reason for Higher Score has something to due with finding the Boat...LOL
The Airforce ASVAB 50%(Same as USMC) The Airforce is very technical , hense the higher score. But they fly you all over the word and you mostly support , well... airplanes.
Then there is the National Guard and Coast Guard, great alternatives to the Bracnches above.
So It realy boils down to who you are and what you want to do.
Again 99% of the people in the Military are wonderful people sacraficing to keep us safe and free. Don't let the media sway your opinion, they focus on Negative because it sells ads.
ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Abtitude Battery)
in other words it's a placement test, scores in percentiles so 50 means you've scored higher than 50% of the people that have taken the test.
Good Luck and God Bless

That is really a decision you need to make on your own. I really dont think you should rule out a whole branch, a very much respected branch, of the military because of an isolated incident. Just my opinion though. They are all respectable positions. You are serving, and protecting the greatest country in the world. Good luck on your decision.

It is the Marine Corps. The entire Corps did not rape anyone. Save your anger for the perpetrator.
I was in the Army. But I favor the US Coast Guard. All duty stations are in the US. Your chances of getting sent to a war zone are pretty slim. You may get to ride around all day in a boat.

I've got news for you, rape is part of the war experience. It's usually kept much quieter.
I was in the Air Force. Most airman basics have at least one year of college before enlistment. It's just the type of people they attract. Air Force entrance scores are the highest.

Your best bet is to join the fight that's coming between your government and We the people who by the way are sick and tired of Iraq, Afghanistan, irresponsible leadership and the corrupted news networks that spew out stories about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie more that news that really matters.
