I certainly try. OF course I realize that I sometimes fail. I, like most people sometimes speak before I think. I will never be perfect but I do try.
Note: I read some of the other answers and realize that I have an unfair advantage. I'm a 50 year old man and I've been married for almost 29 years. I have no reason to prove how "manly" I am and can be quite comfortable being myself, listening to my Dean Martin CD's, being sentimental, and just a bit sappy at times:)

Hopefully, without sounding arrogant, I think I am all of those for sure. Many guys say that girls don't like sweet, caring, understanding guys because they get boring real fast. That's why you have to have that little wild / naughty streak which I do have as well. I fell I'm pretty well rounded and can morph into whatever the mood calls for!

I have been to most areas in the U.S. Different personalities exemplify areas you were raised due to culture, how your parents raised you, etc. I was raised in Atlanta, GA and find true southerners, not northern transplants, continue opening doors, say yes sir/yes maam, use their blinkers in cars, and just have that warm greeting towards all. It does help to be raised close to a big city because once you leave the metro area then you get into rednecks, clicks, etc.
Most of my friends now are from the Northeast because Atlanta is so transient and are extremely nice, so, once you move to an area it can change your perception of people in general. They see that just being nice to everyone gets you a long way in relationships in general.
It is inherent is southern culture to be nice to all, be good listeners, and take the time to understand other cultures, people, religions, etc.

about 1/2 the population of males. you will find many to be arrogant and up themselves but one day you will find someone perfect for you. AS for myself i believe i am all of that you have said, just i have never had the chance to show any one =(
