My co-worker's wife just gave birth yesterday. We are fairly close friends for co-workers. Am I suppose to give them a gift or a card for the new baby? I dont want the wife to feel uncomftorable with the idea, considering I never met her. Should I just say congrats or a get them gift and if so do you think she will feel wierd getting a gift from her husband's female friend/co-woker she never met?

I think you should do what you are comfortable with. If you want to send a card, do. If you want to give a gift, do. If a co-worker of my husband sent us a card or gift for our new baby I would think it was sweet, regardless of the gender of the co-worker.

It would be a kind gesture to send along a small gift. It would let the co-worker feel that you realize just how monumental this event in their life is.

When I had my children, we were fortunate to receive gifts from my husband's co-workers, many of whom I had never met. I was grateful for each and every gift and it really made us feel special.

Besides, it really feels good to give a gift!

No woman is going to feel uncomfortable with their husband's co-worker/friend sending her a congratulatory gift. Send a gift basket with balloons or a teddy bear for the new baby and a card.

If you're not certain, then I'd say no gift. If it were someone you knew outside the office, I might say otherwise, but with co-workers, it's better to maintain a certain distance. You don't want to create the expectation that everyone in your office has to exchange gifts.

I would send a gift, but make sure you address the card to both of them.

I was in your exact situation, and my co-worker's wife sent a lovely thank you card, and apparently really appreciated the gift.

Honey, she's so excited about her new baby she won't even think twice about that. By all means, send a card and a gift! Let them know you're happy for them!
