problems saying "no" to married men?

This has been my experience of them as a social economic group for over 15 years. Tell me why without the usual negative loser comments that get made on here when anyone tells the truth as they see it.

Oblivion - they are often trampy and have said yes to me recently and over the last decade.

First, Miss Goody 2 shoes has made the most idiotic and derrogatory comment. The reason admin assts are around is because people like her are too lazy to answer their own phone, file their own paperwork and schedule meetings.

Second, I'm a senior paralegal but started out three years ago as an admin asst, and you have to do those things to get your foot in the door... with the exception of tattoos and saying no to married men.

Temporary contracts get you the experience you need to increase your salary, those little deep thoughts are probably about what is the next step they should take, tattoos are merely for fun, lunch buddy networks help them maintain a close connection with co-workers because you never know who knows what/who and finally saying no to married men is about keeping any kind of romance away from the workplace. We all know that can be a disaster.

Hope this helps!!

I've been an AA, before working up to senior PA level - being an AA is not great, but it's better than most jobs.

Think about it - you work in some fantastic industries/companies that would otherwise be difficult to get into (I can walk into any PR/advertising/media comapny and get work no problem). You can work on your novel in between filing and photocopying tasks. You have plenty of time to think when you're on a plane to Thailand, which the temping has paid for. You make friends and contacts all across town.

As for married men, why not criticise them? A single woman isn't really doing anything wrong, is she?

Anyone who looks down on them (like the snotty cow above with the low low rating) clearly thinks that pixies and fairies do the work, or it magically does itself. You might be too good to do your own filing, but the temps you sneer at will probably go on to bigger and better things, after they're done wishing they could staple your hands to the desk.

This really made me laugh (because I am a Business Administrator in a large oil company, or Admin Assistant, whatever you want to call me :)

In answer to your questions specifically - a lot do have temp contracts, these are usually the Australian/South African girls who are travelling round the world and just stop off here for a bit to raise enough money for the next leg of their journey :)

'Little deep thoughts' - definitely, at least every 30 seconds, usually involving pinning one of their team to the nearest notice board (I have 45 in my team, so as you can imagine some of them do drive me slightly potty from time-to-time).

'Tattoos'- some of the younger ones do, but it is just the fashion today isn't it?

'Lunch buddy networks' - definitely, we are always lunching with one another, to catch up on all the juicy office gossip and find out when the latest range arrives at Primark/TK Maxx.

'Problems saying 'no' to married men?' - never experienced that, most of the girls that I know are paired up already and would find it immoral to actually take somebody's elses man, but I am sure there are one or two...

There you go, good question enjoyed that !! XX

I'm an administrative assistant (a legal secretary, actually) and I'm not a temp., I have deep thoughts all day long, but rarely share them with people, I have three tattoos but they're not visible when my clothing is on, I rarely go out to lunch with coworkers--I'd rather eat at my desk and surf the web/pay bills, etc., and I've never had an affair with a married man. At least, not since *I* have been married.

I'm not going to call you a loser--it's obvious you've had a bad experience with a secretary. One of them turn down your advances or something?

Temp Contracts: For some variety in their day to day work, and ok money.
Little Deep Thoughts: You try typing someone elses letters and filing paperwork for 8 hours a day what else can you do except have deep and meaningful thoughts?
Tattoos: Most Admin Assistants are in their twenties and thirties, a large percentage of women of this age have tattoos.
Lunch Buddy Networks: When you work in different places you don't build up "office friendships" easily, so it helps to have a network of other people in the same position to meet up with and have lunch.
Problems saying no to married men: Insecurity.

My question is why do Married Men have problems NOT asking admin assistants out?

I am an admin assistant, and I'm on a permanent contract, my deep thoughts are by no means little and I have no problem saying no to married men.

I wouldn't call Admin Assistants a "social economic group" either.

I am an Admin Assistant and guess what

My contract not temp
sometime in though, theres nothing wrong with that
hate tatoos (they are tacky to me)
I love my lunch hour as its the only time you get peace and i try hard to avoid lunch with others.

no problem saying no mate. said no to many bosses and 3 weeks ago said no to my current boss and yes he's a multi millionnaire, young and handsome.

Dont judge all by the few shallow minded ones you ve abused.

More to the point, if you are married then why the hell are you coming onto your admin assistants? Surely that makes you worse than all AAs put together?! And I assume by "negative loser comments" you mean any that disagree with yours?
