I have two children a 2 year old and a seven month old. For the last three years I have either been pregnant or nursing. I am done nursing my seven month old and I want to start to loose weight. I have been walking everyday on my lunch break and have cut my calories to about 1300 calories a day. I just can't seem to loose the weight like I use to do. Any suggestions. I work full time so finding the time to exercise is difficult.

Just about every woman I know goes through this [well, except my cousin]. Your body changed. It's not going to go back to the way it was before...this doesn't mean you can't loose the weight, it's just a lot harder. Don't starve yourself. You have to keep up with the kids. Cut down on simple carbs like bread and increase the fruits and vegis. Keep snack bags with ready to eat fresh cut snacks in the frig and if you like them, keep hard-boiled eggs as snacks, too. Just remember, the eggs are only good for three days.

From the reading I have done on blood sugar imbalances, it may have something to do with the fact that insulin production increases with pregnancy, but may not go back to normal levels post pregnancy, without going on a specific diet. Check out www.hufa.org, the symptoms link, for a link to an article about unanticipated weight gain. This may help explain it better than I can.

the calories should be decreased slowly over a period of time not all at once. dropping cals too quickly causes the metabolic rate to slow, they should be reduced by 10% every week but no lower than what the BMR requires

If you can find time for TV or the computer, you can find time for exercise. TV - computer sitting is the same.
