It would depend on what the person getting hit has done to deserve a slap to the kisser.
I, myself, would expect some kind of an explanation. Like, "Don't ever flirt with my girlfriend!"
Or, "You shouldn't have keyed my car!"
People usually don't go banging folks in the grill for no reason.
The more extreme the crime, the more extreme the beating, I always say.

Either stand there breathing heavily, gritting their teeth, clinching their jaw, and giving you a look like "You deserved that you son-of-a-b*tch, and I DARE you to hit me back." or they'd turn around, walk out of the room and slam the door.
