It's agreed that many early settlers of North and South America can trace their origins to Asia. During the last Ice Age the Bering Strait had frozen between Alaska and Siberia allowing these nomadic peoples to journey to the new world.

Historically, it's thought to be people from Northern Asia (where Russia is today) that migrated across the Bering Strait (it was land, then) and into the Americas. And then settled to eventually become the American Indians. American Indians and people from Asia have a lot of biological similarities that could support this.

Other than the aboriginal people, there is proof of the vikings coming to North America approximately 500 years before the Spanish. But since we were not there it is all just educated guessing.
