Usually they are stuck inside of a computer magazine but its not exactly free because you have to pay £5 or £6 for the magazine.

Non of microsoft's operating systems are free you have to put in the authorisation code after installing it and if you don't have it you can only use windows for a month. If on the other hand you want to run a pirate copy of it they will find you and fine you for doing so win xp is finnished no support for it but i use xp pro because when i bought vista it didn't work so i got my money back buy win xp home from microsoft and stay legal...

you can ask someone you know if they still have it if they,ve upgraded to a different o/s and try and put that on machine but not sure what will happen when you come to register you will have to have all the previous owner details to be successful because that is why it was out in the first place 1 owner 1 o/s.

You cannot get it free. However try ebay where some one may give it at a reduced cost, because they upgrade to VISTA.

No, you have to buy it with a computer although sometimes it can come preloaded on a new computer, i know mine was.
