If meditation is working for you, then Buddhism in some form or another will probably work well. But you know, you don't have to follow a particular religion. You can customize your own pathway to the sacred. In fact, there is plenty of argument in favor of this being the best pathway: one you make yourself.

I am an eclectic witch, to the extent I can be described in such terms at all. I find something useful, I use it. I find something harmful, I work against it or at least keep my distance from it.

Certainly I have a core of moral values, but they came out of my philosophical training in college rather than from some particular religious creed.

Meditation is a great way to focus your life, work through issues, and find the strength you need to do something like quit smoking. But it doesn't have to be a religious thing at all. You don't really have a good reason to become religious, but you should mediate anyway. Find a meditation book at your local bookstore, or download guided meditations. That's what I did when I had insomnia, it's very relaxing and it really helped.

You don't necessarily need to adopt any religious faith to meditate or relax. However, if you're still insistent, I would recommend Buddhist/ Taoist rituals since they emphasize meditation quite a bit and are not loaded with the religious dogma that is rampant in the Abrahamic "faiths."

It's not a religion, but you may want to take up yoga.

It's also not a "true" religion per se, but Buddhism, particularly Zen Buddhism, might be interesting to you.

Also check into Taoism.
