The Crusades of the Middle Ages were an answer to Muslims persecution of non-Muslims in the Holy Land. Europeans did not just one day say, let's go kick their tails and make them Christian.

The teachings of Mohammad are confusing because he wrote them at different times with different stimuli in his life. The Medina vs Mecca periods are diametrical opposed to on another.

Salmon Rushdie wrote a NOVEL about the Satanic Verses of the Qu'ran, so Ayatollah Ali Khamenei puts a "hit' on him. But Islam is not spread by the sword. Yeah, right.

The Qu'ran was written 600 years after the New Testament and 3,000 years after the Jewish Torah was compiled. So were did Mohammad get his revelation?

Muslims, like Christians, should put their God's words out there and let the indwelling spirit convince the reader of the veracity of the teachings. Unless, of course, one is worried that their god cannot work in the spirits of the reader. Then you fly airplanes into their buildings and chop off their heads. Right?

In the west - very few....

Christianity also has an impressive trail of bloodshed behind it.

edit: I won't argue about the demons, you seem to have made your mind up about that...

On the other hand, look at the news - Salmon Rushdie, if no religion can be spread by the sword, why has he been threatened with death?

You must accept that SOME members of your religion see violence as a way forwards.

Do you know about what happened in a Turkish town called Fez? It was many years ago but a relic from that particular uprising is still in use today, (without any thought to what it really means). The Shriner's,of all people use it.
Tell me if you know how the sword was used in this case and who did the killing.

Kathryn has misquoted the Scripture. Read it again.

The majority of religions have survived and spread by the sword. Can't say I personally have been threatened, but I do know that our troops are in jeopardy because of Islam.

Islam is spread by peace not by sword or knife. Islam asks us to defend the religion by mind not by sword .
