A bikini that would be considered very modest in South Beach might be scandalous in Ohio. Is the idea that I just have to be more covered up than the other girls, like its a compeition to be the least sexy girl so you can prove that you love god more?

So Christian women don't try to catch a boys eye? Physical attraction = lust?

Nudity is fine. There are lots of Christian nudist groups.

There are no such "Christian rules." Dress however you feel comfortable. It's no competition. Plus you can cover up and still be sexy.

I probably dress a little more modest than the average girl, not because I'm a Christian but because I'm a self-respecting woman and I think I have a whole lot more to offer than my body. Besides, any guy who would be interested in me purely based on physical attributes isn't someone I would want to waste my time with.

It's not an issue of religion. Standards change based on era and culture. Pretty much anything we wear today would have scandalized the Christians in Jesus's time anyway.

Modesty in the summer.
Tough one
I personally wear a simple One piece on the beach. it has a matching skirt, for out of water, or walking the boardwalk.
Summer attire includes for me shorts that are just above the knee. I don't wear "short shorts". I never show off the midriff.

Dress for the weather. If it's 100 degrees in the shade, be comfortable. Just do so without intentionally drawing attention to body parts, right? Don't try to look unattractive to show devotion to God. God actually MADE those body parts. And He is not mocked. Be pretty, be attactive, be modest

As a Christian, modesty should come natural and not as a sexiness competition. You don't have to prove that you love God more than other people on a beach by your attire. Show God your love by the love you show others, forgiveness when others do you wrong, obedience to God, reading and studying the Bible, etc.

It appears everyone is shy about addressing the real issue here. Men are attracted to the female form and lust after women who wear almost nothing (like a bikini). I have counseled with many Christian men who struggle with women's summertime attire. Wearing immodest clothing is inconsiderate at best. The issue is not trying to prove how much you love God. The issue is how much you really love him and his children who are seeking to live pure lives.

Is the object, the end goal really to appear sexy?
Are you not aware that a woman can be that way WITHOUT having to expose anything?
It may be good to examine your position with an elder in the church regarding this, with an eye towards understanding what the Bible says about modesty, and lust.
Yes, I said lust. Isn't that what women are trying to inspire in a man when they choose to dress provocatively?

Your concern should not be competing with other women. Your concern should be giving glory to God. Personally I would question if mixed swimming areas are proper. However if you going to go, dress modestly as not to attract the eyes of any man or boy (Matthew 5:28).

The fact that God clothed Adam and Eve when they were put out of Eden shows any Christian that immodest dress is an offense and morally improper, revealing intimate body parts is really an ego thing and cry`s out`` Adore Me``

Shorts and a tank-top. Bikini's aren't modest at all, but I know Christian women who wear them in certain areas. But really, do you want that fat guy above me oogling you anyway? That is just gross.

i disagree.

i dont think its about being sexy or not, its about the temptation of being led astray, because of how you dress, as if youre promoting something false which you do not believe in.

but if youre absolutey sure nothings going to happen (how can you know? but still, if you see it as harmless where nothing will result) then go for it, i know i enjoy my bikini as much as the next girl.

its basically based on how strongly set and foundated your moral convictions are. :)
