Take her to a fondue reatuarant. There is a chain called the Melting Pot. You can look for a location near you at their website just do a google search. Have dinner and give the waiter/waitress the ring and ask them top put it on the desert plate.
It will be perfect. You spend over an hour at fondue restaurants and its a great time to just enjoy each others company and talk and have a great time. The chocolate fondue desert is the best! and having it with a ring and proposal would be even sweeter.

Congratulations!
What type of a person is she? What does she likes to do? Is she an outdoor or indoor person? Is she a social person or not? Think along those line. Something that both of you like to do or go, else it will look odd and she will suspect.
Eg. if she's a basketball fan, ask her during half time when you are both watching the game.....maybe on the electronic board. Or if she's a romantic type of person, go with her favourite flowers, chocolates, strawberries, champagne in private. Or if she's close to her friends and family, rope them in to spring the surprise ie. let them share the moment when you asked her without her suspecting anything.
Hope these will kick start some ideas for you. It does not have to be expensive. It's always the thought and care you put into this preparation that's worth the most. Just make sure you get down on one knee when you ask. That's the best part. LOL! Good luck!
A little story, my friend was propose to while she and her boyfriend (now husband) were on one of their little holidays. He brought her for a walk along the beach one night. Then he said "Listen, can you hear what the waves are saying? They are asking if you want to marry (his name)? Oh look there's something among the rocks" It was a ring. It was so totally out there that she laughed and said yes. Now, that was romantic and fun! Something she and her friends enjoys remembering. LOL!

not on Valentines day, or Christmas day or New Years eve. These days are way over done and too corny now. Think of a day that is special to you, the first day you got together or kissed etc if you can remember. Take her out for a nice meal and go for a walk together, again avoid horse drawn carts and the like as these too have been done to death. When you come to a nice spot, get down on one knee and pop the question. This nice spot could have a bench or other such landmark, so that you two will always remeber exactly where you proposed. Good luck!!!

Don't you dare use one of these suggestions!!! Once you tell your lady that her romantic proposal wasn't even your idea- the romance will be gone!!! You sit your @ss down, and you come up with something on your own, so when you tell her later you sat and had to think for hours, days or weeks she will be that much more appreciative. And just so you know, the most romantic way to propose is when she isn't expecting it- not the best answer from Answers!

Well that all depends on where you live. You could do a trail of lights or rose pedals, going down to the water on a beach. At home you could do a little game. Set up the house with candles, and cute little cards that tell her where to go and where ever that leads her you will be there waiting to pop the question. Take her out to the country for a picnic where it is just the two of you. Or you could ask her friends what she has always thought her proposal would be like. Trust me friends know this!!! Anyways, these are just some of my ideas that I have thought of if I ever meet the right guy. Hope this helps. Congratulations.

I've just answered this to a similar question....my hubbie proposed to me by taking me for a hot airballoon ride with champagne, then giving me a box of 3 heart shaped chocolates he'd had specially made. Each of the choccies had a gift inside. One was a bracelt, one a necklace and one an engagement ring with a slip attached saying wil you marry me! that was so romantic. My friends bloke proposed to her on an aeroplane. He booked a surprise trip to Venice & whilst on the flight, he propsed to her over the tannoy. She was so shocked! thats really romantic too. Make it special : )

You could take your partner up the top of a nice hill later in the evening and make a little fire and have a really nice picnic and some nice wine/champagne whatevery then as the sun is setting do the old fashioned down on one knee thingy, and not just ask "wil you marry me" explain how much your partner means to you etc.
Or you could whisk your partner away for a suprise weekend away to paris and ask her at the top of the eifel tower.
Or you could take your partner to venice and ask her on a gondola
Or you could ask on a moonlit walk on a beach
Or you could ask on a hot air balloon

If she is into sports then i would totally say to her to a sports game and then put it on the big screen. That is extremely cute. But if she is not the sports freak girl then take her to a restaurant that you now she loves (maybe even the one you took her on your first date) and then propose or if you do take her to a restaurant then you even hide the ring around a bread stick or something like that and she can find it! :]

Take her to the beach and write "Will you marry me?" in the sand.
Going on a trip by plane, ask the stewardess if you can use the mic and ask through the mic for all to hear "Will you marry me?".
Take her to the place you two had your frist date and ask?
Do you two have special place you go frequently? If so, ask her there.
Play a scavenger hunt game.
Scrample up the first 4 clues
Have her find:
1. a note that says "Will
2. a note that says "you"
3. a note that says "marry"
4. a note that says "me"
5. the ring
