Massachusetts has recognized same-sex marriage since 2004. Connecticut, Vermont, New Jersey, California, and New Hampshire have created legal unions that, while not called marriages, are explicitly defined as offering all the rights and responsibilities of marriage under state law to same-sex couples. Maine, Hawaii, the District of Columbia, and Washington have created legal unions for same-sex couples that offer varying subsets of the rights and responsibilities of marriage under the laws of those jurisdictions.

In Canada they are legal, as well as South Africa, Belgium, the Netherlands and Spain.
In the US, the only state where it is legalized is Massachusetts, and there is still difficulty, restrictions and strong debates on it.
However, they will only be seen as legal if you stay within that country or state. And in Canada, homosexual marriage is legal but the right to divorce is still in process. Better think long and hard before getting married there! *wink*

There maybe some states that will do a marriage ceremony but so far the laws of the land (USA) have not recognized gay marriages. It would be a ceremony but not documented in the marriage book in court. Maybe one day the laws of the land will catch up with what is now happening in the world today.

I'm not sure if you're in the U.S. or not, but here, even if you have a state that performs legal same-sex weddings, it does NOT count, unless you also RESIDE in that state. So, you must live in Massachusetts, Canada or a few EU countries.

In the US they are called civil unions. Many homosexuals have had actual weddings for a civil union ceremony. I think it would turn out great!

Well first of all since marriage means the joining of a MAN and a WOMEN, technically there shouldn't or can't be any weddings for two women. But if one must make up so sort of union and call it legal then Massachusetts I think is one place that has politicians immoral enough, but I'm sure there are others.
