There's so many diets out there when really the best diet is to have a healthy diet - the use your common sense diet! Cut out the crap foods and eat more fruit and veg, smaller portions, exercise; just have a balanced diet, it's simple - wo I could make a book.

The best thing that worked for me was a slow steady weight loss. I lost 35 pounds in a year by keeping my calories in check. If you eat 500 calories less each day than you need to maintain your current body weight- you'll lose a pound in a week. I ate about 500-700 less. I ate everything I liked- and had 6 meals but made sure I stayed within the calorie limit. It was very easy and effective. Taking lots of water and Calcium and multivitamin supplements and not being hungry for too long also helped.

People need to change their views on "dieting". Everyone should be eating a healthy balance of protein, carbs, and fiber. That along with a good amount of water every day and regular exercise will keep you healthy. Too many people use a diet as a fast way to lose weight but the focus should be on getting your body healthy. Eat a lot of fruits, vegetables, fish, grains, etc.

A vegetarian diet has been the best thing that's ever happened to me. The health benefits that I've experienced border on phenomenal...of course I exercise too. So the combination of the two has really put me in a good position health-wise.

I can't deny myself certain foods like cookies, so when I tried to diet before by totally eliminating cookies, when the craving would get too bad, I would buy a bag and eat them all!
Now, I just count calories and that works fine. I eat what I want, but when I've reached my calorie limit for the day, I stop eating. I'm never hungry and I don't pigout on sweets because I allow myself to eat them.

Diet alone does not work. You have to also incorporate some exercises to tone your muscles.
Eat non-fatty foods. If you like fish, poach them in chicken broth and stewed tomato. This makes a nutricious as well as low fat meal.
My sister, who did very well in her diets, eats oat meal once a day. The other meals she eats regularly. What helps is she took up dancing, so she has enough exercises.

I don't like the word diet. In my opinion, the only way to lose weight and KEEP IT OFF is to make a lifestyle change.
Cut out fatty meat from your diet. When I buy meat it is always extra lean. If I have chicken I boil it first to cook off the fat.
Buy everything in the "low fat" or "calorie wise" variety. Eat lots of fruit and veggies. They are low in fat/calories and are great for filling you up.

Diets don't work, but lifestyle changes do. I lost 30 pounds (and kept it off) following the Weight Watchers point system and exercising every day.

The best one I've found is the diet followed by type 2 diabetics. I lost 40 lbs in approx. 3.5 months. I found it by accident when I found out I was diabetic and was put on it by my doctor. Any good nutritionist can give you a copy.
