I have an upper respiratory infection and my nose is so severely congested I can't breathe. It feels like my nose is swollen shut.

you may have allergys or a sinus infection. Does it hurt to lightly tap with your two fingers , under your eyes or around your eyes?? if so...it's probably a sinus infection you'll need anti-biotics from the doc.

try also, to put a tad of Vicks vapour rub just under your nose to open them up....or put head over HOT water/steam with a bit of Vicks vapour rub with a towel over your head, again it will work its' way up through your nostrols and you should be able to breathe somewhat better.

Over the counter decongestants like Sudafed work pretty well for that. You can also get decongestant nasal sprays like oxymetazolone that work great - beware that using these for more than three days straight can result in severe rebound congestion and "dependence" on the medication.

Saline nasal sprays. It will loosen the mucus and help you to breathe. It will take a day or two but it works really well.

Good Luck!

Hi there

I would advise you to blow your nose, and to buy a decongestant or vicks inhaler. You may as well use the saline solution which will help.

Cheers
