A guy just asked for some fellow Christians to help him understand a Psalm...nothing for an atheist to concern himself with, right? But as usual, someone has to come with the usual 'God doesn't exist' line. a) what's the point of that? Think any of us are going to drop everything we know because of three words? b) if you're going to comment on it, why not make an intelligent contribution instead of parrotting the same three words for every question? I thought it was Christians who were meant to be forcing our views on others? Seems a bit hypocritical. And I know atheists know what hypocritical means because that's another word we get thrown at us at every turn.

I'm not calling anyone names and I'm not telling anyone they're going to hell. You can't project your own prejudices onto me and pass them off as being true. Or making that the object of your reply. Just answer the question that's there. The same goes for those who can only reply to a question with a question because they have no real answer.

Clearly, some atheists can't mind their own business. Even when the question is addressed to Christians, they have to butt into the conversation. When a question is addressed to atheists, I do not involve myself. I am a Christian, and the asker wasn't talking to me. Some atheists don't have that much sense. They just HAVE to either answer a straight question with a sarcastic question of their own, or pull out their canned response, "God doesn't exist." Like a little kid's "You started it!"

When I was a little kid, my mom used to say it well. "Children should stay out of grown folks' conversation."

I'm not a christian nor an atheist, but I have wondered that same thing myself. Christians aren't the only ones who get that.. to me, it's just point-gaming to go in and say something like that to a sincere question.
It's a whole different ball of wax if a christian posts a question like "don't you atheists know you're going to face the wrath of an angry god?" etc.. in that respect, they have every right and actually a duty to stand up and say "there is no god".
But, it is a free forum where anyone can post. I don't know that your question will really do anything to stop this, anymore than them saying there is no god will change your mind.

As an atheist, I can see that it's a pointless and annoying answer.

But there's no reason a person couldn't have valid insights about a psalm just because he or she is an atheist, any more than a person's scientific work should be dismissed simply because they're a Christian or Muslim or Hindu.

Don't waste your time worrying about mud thrown at people because of their religious identifications or lack of them. Debate about beliefs is far more interesting than that.

I actually almost agree with some of what you say. Personally I never answer questions that do not concern me. If a question is directed at Atheists or other non believers, then I might answer, if it is not a troll.

But I am not here to insult people for the sake of insulting. If I insult someone its because they are either too stupid to understand or they just take themselves way to seriously and probably should not be here.

I know exactly what you mean. They also accuse Christians of being close minded when they are the ones who refuse to open their minds and hearts to God...and to the truth.

Maybe they think if they say 'God doesn't exist' often enough then that will make it true...and then they won't have to worry about judgement day and being held accountable for their actions.

I have an Idea: Let us make our own forum somewhere else and get out of here. Sorry Yahoo.

I already gave up on those people, they even say that I am not open minded, When even in my search for human reality I read and listened to the opinions of reincanrnationists, atheists, gnostics, rocicruceans, catholics, evangelics, socialists, communists, etc. And even now I still read about many other things. And I always gave an alaborated educated response or opinion.

Some times I wonder How old are those people. or if they have done some research at all.

I don't want to offend but I think that is being self centered.

You finally got the idea why "Because the bible is the true", "Because the bible says so", "Because god has his plan" thing is so stupid ..... even though I sincerely doubt atheist will answer with a standard one track answer, unless the question is the standard one track question.

If it weren't for you lot forcing your views on the world we would leave you alone. You don't see us jumping down Hindus' throats saying "Actually Vishnu doesn't exist", do you? I should have thought all this was perfectly obvious, but being a christian you can't see beyond the end of your nose. And no, god doesn't exist.

If I can't contribute something constructive, then I pass on the question. I guess the atheists want to chime in. But I don't understand why it even matters to them.
