I love the words, I had it read at my baptism. "He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD,"He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust. Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare and from the deadly petilence. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and ramport. You wil not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. You will only observe the with your eyes and see the punishment of hte wicked. If you make the Most High your dwelling-even the LORD, who is my refuge-then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up

in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. You will tread upon the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent. "Because he loves me"says the LORD."I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation" How awsome is this?

I read Psalm 91 on the day I was saved (about 32 years ago). I had been seeking truth in many different ways and had started praying to the God of the Bible. Finally, one night in my apartment I started reading the Sermon on the Mount. When I got to the part about asking, seeking, and knocking, the Holy Spirit made it come alive in my heart that I could do that and find that God would answer. I turned to Psalm 91, which was my mother's favorite. When I read the part that said "He shall call upon me and I will answer him," That came alive within me too. I knew that I could have a relationship with God if I just sought him sincerely. I did so and found He was amazing. I wondered why I had ridiculed Christians before and why I had waited so long (I was19 years old) to find something so good. Psalm 91 remains my favorite Psalm.

there are so many to pick from...

but I read Psalm 119 every day as I ride the train, this is also the Psalm William Wilberforce used to quote from memory as he walked the mile to parliament everyday

it seemed to work for him, he brought down slavery in the west (or at least seriously hindered it) It is about the law, the promised of God inclining your heart ot God's word and having God incline your heart

139.

"Where can I escape from Your spirit? Where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend to heaven, You are there; if I descend to Sheol, You are there too. If I take wing with the dawn to come to rest on the western horizon, even there Your hand will be guiding me, Your right hand will be holding me fast. If I say, 'Surely darkness will conceal me, night will provide me with cover' - darkness is not dark for You, night is as light as day; darkness and light are the same. It was You who created my conscience, You fashioned me in my mother's womb. I praise You, for I am awesomely, wondrously made... How weighty Your thoughts seem to me, O G-d, how great their number! I count them - they exceed grains of sand. I end - but am still with You."
