The Mayan calendar DOESN'T END in 5 years or any other number of years. Calendar and time don't end.
Therefore, nothing is going to happen. Stop living in fear and spreading fear.

Same thing that happened on 6/6/06, 1/1/00, 5/31/98, 9/12/97 and the many other predicted dates for the end of the world. Nothing out of the ordinary.

A load of people will die.

A load of people will be born.

Natural disasters will happen.

After 366 days (its a leap year) it will be 2013, when all the above will happen again.


First the Mayan calender is cyclic, so it is just the start of a new cycle.

Second, since when were the Mayans the source of knowledge of the inscrutable? What information do you have that they thought anything significant would happen?

Maybe the end of the world will come in 2038 when all the UNIX computer clocks overflow their registers. It is just as likely.
