Hard to say without knowing the cause of the knee pain. Could be anything from arthritis to deterioration of the ligaments and tendons or another cause all together. There are alot of good things being said about Chrondrontin, but these are a nutritional supplement that normally comes in a pill form. These may help a little, but it still depends on what the problem is. You may want to consult a physician and get a better idea of the cause of the pain.

The simplest thing to think about is probably arthritis or torn cartilage. You can ease the pain with ice packs. I have torn cartilage that I just had surgery on. I couldn't stand the pain any longer in the right knee. I left the left knee go.
My orthopedic surgeon gave me something to pick up from the drug store, over the counter or, at the health food store. He said it doesn't help everyone but, try it.
Glusomine and Chondroitin Sulfate. He said the Glusomine will help the pain.

You can try ice packs also. There's not much you can do. If you do exercises and you have torn cartilage, you can injure yourself further. If it's arthritis, exercise is going to help so, without a doctors advise it's hard to say. You need X-Rays or CAT's or MRI's to see whats wrong.

Cod Liver oil daily, will help lube the joints. Freashly cut pinapple I hear takes down swelling. If he is a little heavy feed him more fruit and veggies, or fruit juces, this will help him loose some weight. Spiralina found at the health food store is one of my all time favourite cheeting sources for all kinds stuff. It dosen't taste so bad with apple juice.

As we get older this is what happens. Try to get him to take his vitamins and have a walk each morning.
