I stayed at the Fortina Hotel in Sliema, Malta in 2002 and yes the drivers were nuts. There didn't seem to be any driving rules then. There were so many pot holes in the roads so driving was crazy and bumpy! the buses were interesting! Yellow and quite rickety looking but very cheap. What i liked was seeing the drivers family photos by his driving seat. Malta is a beautiful part of the world to visit. Roads may be better now that Malta is part of the EU.
