I don't know that they are merging, it's just that science is pointing more and more toward a creator.
As far back as the Kalam cosmological argument you have had some people using science and philosophy to prove that God created all that was created.
Any reasonable person that looks at the facts can see that our planet, our universe was not an accident, or something that happened naturally. Their are to many things that are fine tuned for life on this planet, gravity, location, the cosmological constant, the rate at which stars produce the building blocks of life all are on a razor thin setting on the scale that is enormous. Change any of these settings even minutely and you can not have life on earth.
Science is now showing that our planet is special, very special and no theory in science can show how we were created or how our universe works like the fact that God created us.
The origin of the species (Darwinism) was and is wrong. Evolution as taught in schools for the last 40+ years was and is wrong. Science now has DNA, we know about amino acid sequencing, we know about the Cambrian explosion and we don't have to hide from God any more we can embrace God as thinking individuals.

In response to adam and "Yes, people are by every means, taking the blend of spiritual/scientific approach seriously". That's just it.
For some of us practically minded people who have a strong spiritual bent, it's perfect.
Obviously not for you, and apparently neither is respect...
good question though. I don't have a problem with how across the board the definition of spirituality is and how people approach it. I expect that it's a wide and varied as people are.
I think there is even more coming. Quantum Spirituality attracted me right away. It woke up huge doors for me in my own personal journey. I'm going to want to keep jumping in the pool of more. The water is fine...

Yes I believe that everyday there are researchers out there finding facts and filled with spiritual inspiration of finding out the truth of the religious path that is recorded in several of the different kinds of bibles out there today. I support the archaeologists 100% in all their bibical findings. Just because you are a scienctise doesn't mean you can't be spiritual.

My answer would depend upon which form of spirituality you are talking about. The Christian Bible proves scientific fact again and again. So, in that case I would say it has already merged. Peace.

Yes of course, as both have same source. If you say science and Islam is merging, would be more accurate.

No. (The outlines of) Science is unmovable and does not reflect any form of spirituality. However, the science community may or may not be embracing spiritual attitudes, which I think probably isn't happening. There are less spiritual or religious scientists than there have ever been, as far as rates go.

Yes.
Ok. One question to you.
What is random?
We say we did some thing randomly.
It appears random at the point of taking a decision as we have limited knowledge while concluding it is random.
But if you see deeper this decision is based on many factors and the more deeper you go the less random it appears...
Similarly merging is purely a personal feeling, each one can give his/her opinion on this topic only based on his/her limited knowledge...
:)
Each one is happy in hacking this code of reality...
