completely agree with petyado on this one. grades don't really count until 9th grade anyway.

Don't try to make them stay in one place for very long. Children have notoriously short attention span so they can't concentrate on anything for more than 1/2 hour (or more, depending on the age). They will sit with more pleasure if somehow you make their studies more interesting. Or just convince them that if they finish faster with their studies, they will have more time to play. Or make a short break after 1/2 hour and then change the subject of study.

Are they learning? Do they get their homework done? I never was able to sit and study for very long at a time. I had to get up, stretch, and walk around. It stimulated the thinking.
If you're kids are preschool age, then sitting still and studying is completely age inappropriate. Little ones just don't learn that way.

Kids are hyperactive and don't want to sit and study. Make it exiting, let them study then ask questions and for each right question reward them with something.

don't make them sit they'll rebel. instead ask them questions while they do whatever they want to do as they get older they will settle down but right now if studying becomes a chore they'll refuse to do it
learning should be fun

Kids always like to Play but you can give them schedule: A TIME to PLAY and TIME to STUDY..... But it could also be possible to PLAY at the same time LEARNING.... you should also have time to PLAY with them and guide them so they will LEARN...

My son learned his multiplication tables while standing on his head. He memorized poetry while playing with legos.
