According to the Bible, it is an unforgivable sin. You can't ask for forgiveness until after you have committed the sin, therefore, You can't ask for forgiveness before you kill yourself and you can't kill yourself and then ask for forgiveness. However, different religions have different beliefs on if you go to hell for it or not.

Yes in line with islamic teaching someone who kills him/her
self or suicide will automatically go to hell because he/she is against with God's decree or God'spredestination.
.Life, livelihood, spouse and death of someone has been decided or predestinated by Allah the only one God before birth when Allah blew the soul into the baby body in the mother's womb..We should try to make our lives long because we do not know exactly when we will die.We can not be frustrated and stressed so we will make a suicide. It means we are despair and we do not believe in God's help.Killling themselves are a very great sins and unforgivable. But killing by other if we are in the right track we will go to heaven. In the hadith someone who had killed one hundred people and he asked for God's forgiveness and he did not killed himself but he died in making the journey to the mosque for taubatan nashuha (a real asking for God's forgiveness and he swore that he would not do the killing again)he was told that he was forgiven and he would go to heaven.

Apparently, you believe in a heaven and hell and thus, the deity known as God. Personally, I think that God would grant entrance into heaven if the reason for suicide is justified. If the depression of his situation is too much for him to bear, then I do not think God would allow him to enter heaven. God seeks to improve his people, regardless of what we may think.

If your friend has a chance of getting out of prison or if he is not antagonized or molested while incarcerated, then I would tell him to use the time he has for introspection about how to better himself and how to repent for his actions so he might go to heaven.

Unfortunately, no one has come back from the dead, so I cannot say for sure if he will end up in hell or heaven. Try and tell him that life, while continuing badly for him, is something that we are given as a gift, his life is not his to take. God will dictate what will become of his soul. At least tell him to exhaust other means of absolution before suicide.

Personally, I don't believe in Hell. What you don't want to do is push anything negative on him. He may just get scared, nervous or more confused than before. Don't scare or judge him; always focus on the positive. Give him hope, but not false hope. Life is the absolute most important thing to have. He has friends like you that really care about him, and you can get him through this. Music helps if it's not negative yet not too cheery. That's really annoying.

"Why, this is Hell, nor am I out of it!", Mephisophiles.

There's no Hell, but from what I understand, a suicide will be in a very confused state when he passes over, and will be sent back to reincarnate rather quickly to learn the lessons he was trying to avoid in his present life. Hope is a quirky thing, but it's better to say alive and hope for a change, rather than give up.

A man was condemned to be drawn and quartered at dawn, so he promised the king that if he was spared he would teach the king's horse how to fly, within one year.

Someone asked the poor fool what he would do after the year extension was over. He said, "The king may die, I may die, I may be pardoned, or I just might find away to teach the d@mn beast to fly!!...

Certainly if God did not hold back from punishing the Angels that sinned, but by throwing them into Tar`ta-rus,delivered them to pits of dense darkness to be reserved for judgment;<2nd.PETER 2/4> So that tells me that they like Satan will be locked in an abyss!! Until the time when ALL[both dead & those living at that time ' Will be judged!!. Now ofcourseas it states in the scriptures "Thou shalt not kill"<-- Well would'nt we be killing a soul the God's word says not to do !! If we killed ourselves !?! samething applies!! do'nt you think ?.... I mean we are'nt givers of our own living~souls !! right ?Yet & still you have the chance to save your own whole~soul !! What a wonderful arrangement & or chance you've been given !?! right !?!.,. "R"r`r,r'r.r`.'->

metaphorically just getting old and full of ailment is going to hell ....I seriously doubt if there is anything after death at least the is no evidence to such so far . I think I might say a victim of suicide went to hell figuratively but realizing all along it's because the gave up their life not that they can possibly be cognizant of the fact after they are gone.

From your question, I can assume that you believe in God since you believe that there is a hell. A human being has no right to take his own life because only God gives life and only he can take it...

If your friend believes in God then he should put his trust in him no matter what happens because at this point I think only God can help him. God bless.

Yes. Suicide is murder. God created you and you are His. If you murder someone else and you are truly sorry and ask for God's forgiveness then he will forgive you. You may have to spend the rest of your life in prison but you will go to heaven when you die. If you kill yourself then you wouldn't have the chance to ask for forgiveness and you go to hell. Try your best to talk your friend out of it. Maybe a pastor or priest could go talk to him and help him sort out his feelings on suicide.

It sounds like he is in hell already.
No, I don't believe that a loving God would send someone so utterly miserable to hell ie an eternity sent in punishment. It doesn't make sense.
The word "hell" actually means death. So yes, your friend will go to hell, but then, we all will. There is no lace where you burn forever and ever. Read your bible with an open mind and you will see I am right. The punishment is eternal, not burning for ever and ever.
