Why do lemons get seeds, yet limes don't?

Most limes have seeds. Key limes have lots of seeds .All lemons do.

There is brilliance in the genetic engineering that has taken place over the years to eliminate the seeds in limes. However, just as your parents tried, and failed, to genetically engineer you, the lemon, like you, is the product of wasted energy. Also, I know I am in good company answering this question. Being well aware that I am wasting every ones time just like the majority of those "people" who answered you have wasted their time. Pucker up big boy, or, is it Nome?

Most limes have seeds. Persian limes are seedless or nearly so. Key limes have lots of seeds.

There are 2 types of limes I know about.
I am familiar with the larger variety and they definitely have pips.
