The equivalent of the Tamil word 'Bhattar', 'Gurukkal' or 'Bhattachariyar' in other languages is known as Bhat, Bhatta, Bhattacharjee, Raval, Panda, Pandey, Pandit, Namboodri, Dikshit, Purohit and others.
