I'm looking for a job in the media and I want to work in The Windy City. Thing is, I'm not from there. I live in Texas. And I know that out-of-town applicants aren't given a second look.

There is no substitute for honesty. Eventually the truth will come out and could always be the foundation for a future topic of discussion. Your skills are what the employer is looking for to fiil the position. You can never go wrong by telling the truth. Telling a lie has, or possibly telling one, has now brought you to this forum to seek approval from others to do something wrong, lie about where you are living. Not a very good way to start a relationship with an employer.
