Mormons invite people to learn the basics of the church and then pray to God to find out if the things that they are teaching are true or if they are false.
I know of no other church that asks everyone to do this. Are the Mormons the only one?
Is every other church afraid of what God's answer might be?
Do you know of any other church that makes such a widespread invitation?
After all, if God does have a church, and if he does speak to us, wouldn't he guide us to find it if we sincerely sought it???

God's church is the conscience that everyone has, there is no "true" church on this planet. All the different religions are one groups description of the big picture. Put them all together, and you're pretty close.
----and how did you learn that...did God tell you? Your source is "Agnostic ex Mormon". Agnostic means "without knowledge". How can one without knowledge tell us where the truth lies???

Just about every answer here says something to the effect of:
God won't answer your prayer
Satan and god will both answer your prayer
You'll think that God is answering your prayer, but he isn't.
Don't Christians believe in a loving heavenly father that answers sincere prayers???? Isn't this the MOST Christian way to search for truth???

Praying to know if it is true is a psychological trick that people fall for while in the right state of mind.
If you pray about it, than you probably already believed in it to begin with.
heres something I copy pasted from the site below.
"Should it come as a surprise that a good number of people who take this "test" end up experiencing transformation in their lives? The power in this so-called proof of divinity is produced by priming the gullible subject to a self-executing conversion. First, the subject must already have accepted as fact the orthodox dogma regarding the deity of Jesus and all related stories concocted by St. Paul, the Pharisee, the Son of Pharisee. Second, the subject must believe that the verses of Moroni will lead him to find the truth about the very verses prescribing how to find the truth. Third, the subject is ready to interpret any usual or unusual event occurring in the next days in favor of these tenets! The primed mind will perhaps witness many miracles and "feel" the Holy Ghost inside his or her mind. Forth, the Church has won another convert who will fill its treasury with money."

Mormons invite people to learn the basics of the church and then pray to God to find out if the things that they are teaching are true or if they are false.
The funny thing is that when people don't get a positive confirmation that the things they are being true, and they tell other church members about it, they are usually told that they don't have enough faith, or that they are sinning in a way that the Holy Ghost can't be with them; even if it is not true at all. Also, a lot of other churches do that too, invite others to pray about what they are being taught.
I know of no other church that asks everyone to do this. Are the Mormons the only one?
Nope.
Is every other church afraid of what God's answer might be?
Nope.
Do you know of any other church that makes such a widespread invitation?
Islam.

EDIT: You do have a point, however I am entitled to my opinion, either way, the Mormon church is NOT the way to god, as long as it makes some millions of people happy on this planet, then it is no better or worse than anything else that makes people happy, in the end though, it is not the key to anything.
And your definition of Agnostic is just that, the definition you choose to pick out of the dictionary to support your opinion. There are many definitions out there. I call myself Agnostic because to me it means that I am one of the few out there that isn't pompus enough to presume that I am right and only my belief or non-belief is the way. I also call myself Agnostic because it means that I am open-minded--yes even to the LDS church, there have been many times that I have defended it as an exmormon, but I simply cannot sit by and let someone pertpetuate the old myths that I fell for, wasted way too much money on tithing for, and wasted 8 years of my life on without interjecting my two cents.

Yeah, it is good to pray and ask God if a church you are attending is the right church. You have to understand that people whether they realize it or not are in a warzone for their souls. You may go to a church which is completely fake and they can say pray and ask God if this church is true. The demons working in that false church will devise a plan to make you think God is in that place. While God Himself will speak to you through a stranger, dream, or vision letting you know to get out of that place. So, now it boils to a choice for that individual and a seeking process. The demons will introduce people who will give you money and other temptations to lure you away from the truth. So, God does guide people and tell them where they should go, but some fail to listen because of fears and the battles with temptations.

Any church will invite you to pray and see what God says.
Remember also that Satan can and does intercept the answers to prayer and will cover the answers with some ugly circumstances so people will not see the real answers but they see what they want to see. A lot of miracles come in ugly packages, the same goes for the truth it is often in an ugly package.

I don't remember the verse but the bible does teach to be convinced in your own heart about any teaching. I could give you an exact verse but you must ask kindly because I am lazy about such things. It is a known mind programming technique as are just about all thing churches do.
It's not just the Mormon church, it is in the bible somewhere after the gospels and before the revelation of john.

Every other christian church I have been to, has a guest package, which consist of their beliefs and theology. When I stopped being a mormon, i just had God find me a church out of the yellow pages (believe it or not) because I had already been to alot of churches when i went to basic training and none of them appealed to me.
As for that burning feeling the mormons talk about, I get it in the christians church, so I know it is a fake feeling. You can't get a burning in both churches, so I know this burning thing is something one can conjure up. like a spell. like I did when I was wicca. As for the testimony, I had that to, but when you repeat something over and over again, psychologically speaking, a person can convince themselves of anything.

Hmm... I don't know. But it is great if everyone prays and ask God if their church is true, they will sure get an answer as long as they pray with humility and faith. Before I was LDS I used to pray to God to lead me to the true religion because I was confused and weeks after I met the missionaries that were visiting my mother and everything started. It took me about 10 to 11 months for me to convert.

In the bible In timothy states to study for the truth. not go by the burning bosom feeling.
Praying to god is about walk with him and his love for you. Prayers is what lead me out of the church. The love of other christians. god lead me out of the church.

Some christian churches ask that you pray for the truth about Jesus rather than whether you are in the right church. I don't insult my own intelligence by even trying

"Remember also that Satan can and does intercept the answers to prayer..."
Once again magical thinking clouds rational thought. If you don't get the 'right' answer, then satan is deceiving you. This is the common theme throughout morgdom: their fear of satan is greater than their love of christ. This might explain why christ is only mentioned in the prayers, and more time 'devoted' to Joseph Smith.
I believe satan lives in your large intestine and intercepts protein absorption intended for your brain.
