Ok, Ok....shall we remember who and what we are and please try to represent in a respectful and tolerant way?

Just because others are ignorant, it is not our place to judge, nor is it our place to tell others that their beliefs are wrong. Try and practice a little tolerance and the whole, "Do Unto Others" thing.

Blessed Be Little One....You still have much to learn )o(

Check Exoudus 22:18, as well as Deuteronomy 18:9-14 and Leviticus 19:26, 31 and 20:6, 27. All of those passages speak about not falling into witch-craft.
As for mythos and folk lore - I pose this question to you - How many other religions are as old as Judism and Christanity? And if it were just a folk lore why is it still being actively followed today? Millions of people over 2 millinia believing in the same folk lore that is just a myth wouldnt make a whole lot of sense now would it?
Much of the Christian and Catholic Iconography is stolen, I will grant you that, but the basic message has always remained the same. The purpose is not stolen unless you count stealing souls for heaven vs letting them spend eterinity in hell, which if you read Revelations is a very nasty sounding place. If you want a good visual of what hell might look like I suggest you watch Constantine.
Myths are things like the Roman and Greek gods of the early AD centuries. The Loch Ness monster is a myth. Notice, no one follows them, worships them any more. So I think Christianity can go into any forum. Its a culture or society, its a religion, and its a phylosophy.

"Shouldnt we move the Christians to the Mythology & Folklore forum? I mean after all, they are a made up religion witha stolen purpose....doesnt that qualify them as a Myth!!????"

That's not what a myth is.

"(for) academic fields, a myth (mythos) is a sacred story concerning the origins of the world or how the world and the creatures in it came to have their present form. The active beings in myths are generally gods and heroes. Myths often are said to take place before recorded history begins. In saying that a myth is a sacred narrative, what is meant is that a myth is believed to be true by people who attach religious or spiritual significance to it. Use of the term by scholars does not imply that the narrative is either true or false. See also legend and tale. "

But Christianity is Mythical. It does explain a religious thought in terms of sacred narratives. So it does partially belong there. But, as we can see from this forum, it is large enough that it could take up its own forum - even away from the "Religion and Spirituality" forum. But if you're asking questions about a religion that people today find as a Spiritual guide, this would be a good place to post. If you're looking for insight into myth and comparison of Christian myths to Other myths, you may want to try the mythical section. I, persronally, am not as familiar with a lot of ancient Greek/Roman/etc. mythological stories. I assume (maybe incorrectly) that those are the types of questions asked in there, so I never look into them. I just would not have a lot to offer.

The Israelites had a lot of dangerous people around them and their lives depended on a sense unity when the battle got rough to trust their brother to keep their back religiously. That's the only thing that kept them going, worse than Israel being surrouned by enemies today. But it was a message for different times. "There's a time of for everything under the sun." Dumping any knowledge is like closing off streets, after a while it gets hard to get around. Some don't like psychology, others only read fiction or don't like history or mythology. Not knowing about something hardly qualifies for being an authority. Even the authorities argue and seem blind. The beliefs about the Bible, many held by Christians, are the mythology, in my opinion A careful study of any field, shows a depth and a wealth of scholarship that boggles the mind, but clears it when you find out what it's really about. And you can find out to suit any test.

Exodus 22:18 (King James Version)

18Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.

There are none so blind as those who will not see what is right in front of their faces. Read that bible you have right there next to you.

Christianity is not a made up religion with a stolen purpose. Where are you getting this stuff? Sounds like you are making it up as you go along.

BTW, I am not Christian, and I still know how to find the scripture passages.

Hello,

Jesus was recorded as a real historical figure by Tacitus, Pliny, Suetonius and Josephus but very briefly I admit.
Centaurs, werewolves, fire breathing dragons through to manticores and fairies have not been documented in real history or ever captured as far as I know. Ancient gods and their servants were not recorded walking the earth and now serve as lawn ornaments or swimming pool decorations.

EXODUS 22-17 in the New American Bible or 18 in some others about suffering a witch to live.

No. Even if you don't believe that Christianity is correct, as long as there are people who do believe it, it is a religion. The same goes for Hinduism, Buddhism, and all other religions.

If you want to get technical, questions for atheists should not be in this section, since they do not have a religion, but they are still here.

I'm ASTONISHED ! Not about you dear, I'm astonished that you have a Bible right next to you. And you even capitalized the word Bible. By the way, that verse is in Exo. 22:18 , since you wanted proof. Edit:......I decline your challenge to a battle! Isn't that what you're looking for?

t is important to realize that:

The term "witchcraft" in the Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament) refers to (mostly) women who used spoken curses to injure other people or destroy their property.

The term, "witchcraft" in the Christian Scriptures (New Testament) refers to murderers who use poisons to kill people.

In North America, "Witch" and "Witchcraft" most often refer to Wiccans and Wicca.

Wiccans are modern-day Neopagans. They follow Wicca, a new religion that has been created, in part, from ancient Celtic beliefs, practices, Gods, Goddesses, holy days and symbols. They follow the Wiccan Rede, a rule of behavior which prohibits Wiccans from performing any activity that dominates, manipulates, controls, or injures others.

Thus, in terms of behavior, Wicca is a benign and healing religion; the "witchcrafts" mentioned in the Bible are evil and destructive. The two are exact opposites.

that being said, you asked......Exodus 22:18

btw, I do not call myself Christian. And what does it matter what it says in a book in which you do not believe anyway?

You know the Bible isn't debatable! If you want to check answers for your benefit~Great!
But to put up a debate and get people all riled up, there is no point! If you honest to goodness don't understand something, you should ask in a kind way.
How your presenting yourself is defensive and ready to fight like your in a war situation!
