Because I don't recall ever being told that.
I might have seen the monkey to human pictures,
in a text book -- (not sure, it could have been the library)

But none of my teachers ever covered it. I was raised in Ca.

Thanks,
lilith

You remember correctly; you were not told that man came from monkeys. You were taught that there are specific similarities between monkey and man, all factual. You were taught a taxonomy of plants and animals based upon classes of characteristics.
You may also have been taught that some characteristics have a greater value to survival than other characteristics and those that posses those characteristics that contribute to survival, breed and their offspring survive. Something like that. That process is called "Natural Selection". It's a pretty simple concept. People with normal intelligence understand the concept quickly and understand the evidence to support that explanation of the diversity of plant and animal life.
I am sorry to hear that you were raised in Ca. Child protective services in Ohio would have prevented that as it is considered abuse.

You would have never been taught that we came from monkeys. That is simply not true.

Evolution theory (which most people would have been taught in school) states that human beings and apes share a common ancestor dating back to several million years ago.

If you have never been taught this you have been mislead.

And before everybody jumps around, read what I just wrote. I am not stating that evolution theory is true. I am saying what it states and if you were not taught that, your teachers were hiding things from you.

I was taught that evolution as more than just a thoery, but more as a fact and it traced our evolution right back to rocks. I believed in Evolution until Science proved to me that evolution is untrue. When I look back, I can not believe all the lies and garbage that our Schools have taught us. Such as all these missing links from just a small fracture of bone or a single pig's tooth. The outrageous scandals are still being taught, such as gill slits that were never there and false pictures that never existed. It makes me mad that these things are even tolerated.

I was taught we have a common ancestor not that one day a chimp had a human child. I think this is one of the most annoying misconceptions of some of the people who don't accept evolution as an evidence based theory. It makes me want to slap a public school science teacher or a parent..............better yet, you just show me who is responsible and I'll slap 'em.

Thats a very common misconception Scientist Now blieve we are not from money however somewhere we branched off into 2 separate groups one being human other being monkey and other apes like creature however they still can not find any evidence to support this also many religion say we are offspring of money are trying to make you feel that monkey are stupid but seriously i believe were not the descendant of offspring and yes they taught us that and all about cro-magon and homo sapien/erectus etc

Good point. Evolution is much more grand than any 4000 year old man can write on pieces of parchment. No i was never taught that we came from monkeys.

I was taught that it is possible that we are descendants of a relative to primates (can't remember the specific kind), but as Thiests are quick to point out, science is always changing, but it is the answer to where we came from that makes the most sense.

If your teacher tells you that you came from monkeys, ask your teacher this question.

If man came from the monkey, why is the monkey still in the tree?

That is what I tell our children in our church.
