Last Sunday, I went to a popular donut shop. It was a father's day and when I entered the shop, one of the crew greeted me with " Happy Father's day to your husband!".

What bugs me(yes, until now) is that I don't have a husband. maybe I look like I have one, it's just a wrong assumtions Whatever reasons he may have, I think it was still impolite for him to assume anything. He could have said Happy Father’s Day to my father instead. Not all women may have a husband but all of us definitely have a father.

i don't know why you would even make a statement like this. why does he feel obligated to wish a third party (without even knowing if that third party exists) a happy father's day. it's like a random stranger wishing your aunt a merry christmas. the only thing i can think of is that maybe he was very excited about the holiday. or maybe he thought he recognized you as part of a family unit that had been in the shop before.
