Any other athiests who absolutely love this movie?

Oh sure. I watched it when it came out on video, which was something like eight years ago, and watching it recently, it's fun to figure out the voices (Sandra Bullock, Michelle Pfeiffer). It was on TV the other day, and I still have "Playing With The Big Boys Now" stuck in my head.

While I'm not an atheist, I have studied religion to the point where church bugs the hell out me. But I love history and Biblical stories. That movie is simple gorgeous. It's a shame the follow up movie about Joesph and the dream coat didn't measure up. If you liked this movie you should read The Red Tent. It's a beautifully written book with Biblical roots that doesn't shove religion down your throat.

Great music. Pretty good plot.
Absolutely totally unbased on history. Ramses was a few hundred years earlier than the exodus. And there is nothing in the biblical story about Moses being a prince or in line for the throne. They all knew he was a Jew, too - it was no secret.

I always watched that as a kid. I always cried though when they had to kill the family's youngest son (or something like that).
