I was recently diagnosed with hypertension, and I'm on a couple of prescription medications now-- I'm not yet 30 years old, I have no family history of hypertension, I'm not overweight, I don't smoke, drink or do drugs, I stay away from fast food and high fat, salty food in general, and I'm getting out and exercising more. Any suggestions on anything else I can be doing? Or any thoughts on why I might have high blood pressure? My doctors seem to be stumped. Thanks!

3 years ago, I was diagnosed - hypertension with a reading of 160/100. I used to feel dizzy a lot, my legs had awful cramps, and levels were very low in my potassium, causing my fingers and toes to always cramp together. One day I started to feel really faint while I was driving with my daughter in the back seat and I passed out, hitting 3 cars and ending up in a ditch. That moment,I knew I had to do something because my meds weren't working. I heard about this diet from a friend and thought I'd give it a shot. The results have been remarkable. In just 21 days, I honestly can't remember feeling this good, my blood pressure went from 175/110 to 125/70.

There are many causes for hypertension, both social and physical. If the medications work and the side effects aren't too bad I would suggest you stay on them. Hypertension can cause heart, kidney and eye disease as well as strokes. If your doctor hasn't already, you should have him test you for kidney dysfunction, adrenal tumors and even sleep apnea, which can all cause an increase in your BP.

Take a look on what kind of cookware you might be using. You must use Stainless Steel cookware... "surgery grade". I must tell that kind of cookware is expensive... but it is worth because it prevents you from using oil when cooking. Did you know the cheap cookware sets like Royal prestige don't work well?? Try "Lifetime" cookware. Then, after that, make some tests at the water to see if the water doesn't contain too much minerals or toxins. Most important advise... take it easy! life is beautiful! don't get stressed!

Do you have a stressful job? I know a girl who is very thin and healthy but she is a very nervous person and is always stressed out and she has high blood pressure because of it! Drink lots of water and do a high aerobic exercise and just try to chill out worrying over your high blood pressure will only make it go higher

1] stay in normal weight range. Avoid sodas, cold cuts, canned veggies, canned soups, and canned meals [ high in salt ].
2] do aerobic exercise for minumum of 30 minutes 3 x a week.
3] find something relaxing to do - stretching, or yoga, or meditate, or pray, or listen to calm music, etc. Go do it when you get stressed. [ one place I worked, we used to kick the empty boxes in the storeroom. Another, we used to go in the stairwell and scream. ]

Do you have a stressful job or have other stressful issues in your life? Maybe you should learn some relaxation techniques or other stress relieving strategies. Also, using biofeedback has been helpful for some suffering with HBP. Hope this helps.

You didn't mention caffeine. You should probably cut out all of the caffeine.
