(I assume you are referring to "belief" as in the existence a supernatural-creator or a god, etc..)
I've been recently considering the preponderance of god-believers who seem to be lead by their emotional-selves at times when reason and logic are called for. At first the phenomena appeared to me to be an evasiveness on their part, i.e., a method to dodge and duck around issues of truth and fact, but I am beginning to think otherwise. I have posted a number of questions on this subject.
Although, I would probably stick to the reliably proved existing arguments; "an infinitely existing universe that had no beginning," "after death is identical to before life," "evolutionary development," and the currently gathering scientifically proved evidence that "prayer is ineffective," I would be tempted to pose the question of an "emotionally disciplined and balanced mind vs an emotionally undisciplined and unbalanced mind" as a reasonable beginning theory which sorts non-believers out from believers. (For those who might misunderstand this, it does not suggest stupidity or insanity in any way. It does suggest that some people are more likely to trust their emotional self more-so in decision making than they trust their intellectual-self.)
In addition, of course, I would ask for evidence that shows by fact that god exists. There is none that I'm aware of, (nor can anyone say there is such,) and therefore the question ought to be moot, but of course, the debate continues regardless.... unreasonably and emotionally, in fact.

Ones epistemology is far more important than any question framed in terms of "belief vs. non-belief". The real issue is how does one know something. There are several ways of knowing but only one works well with the natural world: science (empiricism).

The evolution of science has more effect now a days than what you believe. But where as belief and non belief depends upon our own soul which always shows u the way u live there is some unknown power upon all this.

Human beings need something to quiet the spirit and lower the anxiety. Human beings need to find peace.
If your religion/philosophy responds to these needs in a way that promotes compassion and wisdom, then it is a good thing, not only for the individual but also for the human community.
If your religion/philosophy creates order but at the same time excludes/disrespects billions of people around the world, it is not entirely bad but is more bad than good fo the human community.
Surrender to the Spirit (God, Allah, Jesus, The Dao, Truth), and love your neighbor as you love yourself. All other things will work itself out.
peace

Good question! I don't know because my strong point is my faith but how can you argue that when the other person doesn't believe. It's better not to argue about it. Just pray for the other person and talk to them when you can, but there is no point in arguing.

That 99 per cent of the people who engage in the argument never define their terms. They have no working definition of belief; no functional concept of religious faith; and therefore have absolutely no idea what they are talking about.

The lack of evidence of any God's existence. Also the contradictory nature of the holy texts that are supposed to be written by these deities.

If you are seeking an answer to know if God is real, and if He realy died for you so you wont go to hell. Ask Him. Say a simple prayer.. Dear Jesus, come into my heart, come into my heart and make me a better person, that I may be more like you in all my ways through all my days, Amen.
Believe in this prayer when you ask, and you will be on a eternal (forever, eternity) journey with your creator.

my greatest argument of belief would be that as a human you have certain instincts that might be guided by something greater.. theres a lot of unsolved mysteries when it comes to everyday miracles and why they happen must be the result of a greater force that has a plan for us....its hard to put into words your faith though...
