yes, I think so. it has historical, anthropological, literary, and referential value, of course. and it can contribute to the storehouse of accumulated wisdom given to us by the ages. but that does not put it in the same category as the divine Word which is given to us in the Bible. the Bible is the Word of God. the apocypha are the words of men.

Yes it has value as do all scriptures. I keep one by the stool to read when I'm alone.
Mickey Mouse comics have scholarly value. Scholars can find value in just about obscure topic of mental masturbation.
Can the Apocrypha explain how to create effective medical interventions using DNA re-combinations or stuff like building a better iPod? If so, it has value, otherwise, it's just paper.

I'm not a Catholic, but I still think they are worth reading. There is approx. a four hundred+ year span between the old testament and the new testament. They tell about many happenings that occurred during that span. Jesus even made reference a couple of times to these books. Although they are not considered God inspired, they do give us a knowledge of what happened during this span in history. Well worth reading.

Absolutely.

Any religious document that is that old tells us a lot about the person who wrote it and the culture that he lived in.

When the Dead Sea Scrolls were found not only did they find large sections of the Bible but they found writings of the Essen sect that kept them.

Those writings proved invaluable in learning more about a society that we knew almost nothing about.

Yes, its how a number of things are known about religiously - for instance a heirarchy of angels. Otherwise in the bible an angel is just called an angel(archangel or not) until editors came around a bit ago.

There's lots of other things too.

Yes - but I would give it less significantly weight than the OT and the NT.

I would weight other early church writings, even up to Augustine, ahead of some of the Apocryphal writings.

But I would not reject the writings of Paul, James, or Jude.

There's all kinds of things that aren't Protestant that have scholarly value. Why would you suspect otherwise?
