I absolutely love this verse, but then I get to the last one, and am totally turned off: Ecclesiastes - A time for everything:
"There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace."
I love this verse for its beautiful message and the ideology behind it. But then, I really don't like the last two lines, b/c there never should be a time to hate or time for war. What do you think?

There are times to hate and war...

Hate/anger is an emotion, and emotions are by themselves "non-sinful." Anger is not always sin. God is angry (Psalm 7:11; Mark 3:5), and believers are commanded to be angry (Ephesians 4:26). But anger turns to sin when it is selfishly motivated (James 1:20), when God’s goal is distorted (1 Corinthians 10:31), or when anger is allowed to linger (Ephesians 4:26-27).

War is never a good thing, but sometimes it is a necessary thing. In a world filled with sinful people (Romans 3:10-18), war is inevitable. Some wars are more “just” than others, but all wars are ultimately the result of sin. Christians should not desire war, but neither are Christians to oppose the government God has placed in authority over them (Romans 13:1-4; 1 Peter 2:17).

So you see, there IS a time for everything, including hate and war. While we do not wish these two to occur "often" we should always seek and pray for the "love/peace" options more.

The first thing that I think of is the song:
http://play.napster.com/track/17802669
That's by the Byrds.

But don't you see? There is a time for war. Quite politically incorrect, but true nonetheless. When you read about all the fighting that God ordained in the Old Testament don't you see that. What if the children of Israel said, " No God, we won't hurt anyone." Do you think that it would be good for them?

And we know that God doesn't change, when you read Revelation, do you think that those people who come at Satan's beckoning will have a sudden change of heart because they will be coming to defeat the already established Kingdom that Jesus set upon the Earth? No!
They will have hardened their hearts so solidly that there won't be any excuse. They will have4 it in their minds to overthrow God Himself!

So there is a time for war, and hate. God hates too. So much so that he sent his Son to take some of us out of the way before he lets everyone else have it, since they want it so bad.

The life you live, must be defined by you....you cannot look at the world around you and see a perfect world. Most people see something they wish to change. You should change or at least stand up for your own beliefs.

Some will call it war or hatred....some will call it justice.

Do as you will...but you don't have to accept everything as "God's Will". We also have free will to change the things we disagree with. There is no need to use force or violence...but if you feel passionate about something...state it out loud.

Your right ,but we dont live in a perfect world and God knew that.He orchestrated many wars to get His people to the promise land and other occasions also. Our hate does not necessarily have to be bad,its our actions that come from hate that turn out bad. God Himself hates sin but loves the sinner.Does that make hate and war bad? If tey are done for the wrong reasons, then yes.All I can tell you is God knows best and if He allowed it to be written in the Bible,He kneew why He did it.
God Bless

Everything needs to be balanced. The lord knows that and knew it even before he created the universe. Do you agree with "a time to kill?" these are mainly opposites to show you that there is a time for everything and we need to accept that.

If we didn't have war or hate how would we have an appreciation or even an understanding of peace and love?
