In arabic there is a word for apple, a word for tree, a word for car, and a word for God. that word is Allah. Allah isn't a person like a budda or something else, its the word for God.

Because these fundamentalists Christians would feel better if you were worshiping another God.

That way they can say our god is better than your god.

Its stupid. Two monotheistic religions by definition cannot worship different Gods. Irregardless of the name difference.

This is very true. Many people criticize the name for God in Arabic, not realizing they are ridiculing their own God. Muslims do indeed believe in the same God as Jews and Christians, as these are the three Abrahamic religions. Ignorance also plays a role; people don't want to know that Allah is simply the Arabic translation for God; they like to pick on the word for God, "Allah", unbeknowist to them that He is God they worship as well. Although all three religions may believe different things about God, Allah, or Yahweh (All mean God), they all believe in the same God. Jews call God "Yahweh", Muslims "Allah", and (American) Christians "God". Many people fail to realize this, and can be very ignorant. Like I said, not only do they not know, they choose to rather not learn, knowingly.

Also, the media has forced many people to believe that Allah tells Muslims to be suicide bombers, terrorists, etc. and that this is all promoted and preached, when in reality it is totally the opposite. You can't judge a religion based on a few misguided followers, and we shouldn't accept the Media as our teacher. Please refer to this video, I strongly recommend watching it; it is very true and will clear everything up.

Then why is it that Muslims whose first language is English still say "Allah" and not God? Why do they purposely separate themselves in that way? This bothers me about a lot of words, actually - wudu instead of ablutions, zakat instead of charity, I could go on. I, as an Arabic speaker, know that not all words are easily translatable - and living in Morocco even find myself saying "alhamdullilah" quite often (as do Arab Christians of course), but Muslims who don't speak Arabic aside from prayers should just say "God" if they want it to be more clear.

While each culture has a different name for God--each culture also assigns different attributes to the God they believe in. These attributes often reflect societal prejudiced views and reasons for hatred of other cultures. While Allah may be the name used for GOD, Allah does not represent the views and attributes of God as we know them. Most religions, while showing a face of love, often reflect the pure evil of mankind's heart. Men have always wished to manipulate other men. What better way to do this than use to use God, Allah or other names to control other men. The true God has but one set of values. Here is where the controversy comes in however. For each culture wishes to infract upon all societies, the values they wish to attain. Societies then, in other words, use their idea of God to manipulate others to conform to their particular way of thinking. When choosing the God, or religion of your choice, it is best to understand which values that society has presently placed upon the name of their God, before assuming that all Gods are the same. God, then, is in fact different than Allah. Just as Jesus is different than Mohamed. For they both represent differing cultural values. These differences can be evil. Christianity was evil when it burned witches at the stake in the middle ages. Just as Moslem's are evil if they condone mass murder of innocent people to justify their religion.

Whoa
yes i agree the arabic word for God is Allah
but this was not the allah that Muhammed intended!

Second
if u say jesus did not die
then ur God is a liar
let me explain

u think that God would decieve us and take Jesus up in the clouds without telling us about it? If it was not Jesus who died then why didnt Marium know that wasnt her son? Dont u know if it wasnt him that she would know? Why would God not tell us why would he make us believe for hundreds of yrs that it was him. Then say to us oh I need to send a prophet to tell them that i lied to them and to tell them the truth. God is not a liar or deciever. IF it was not Jesus who died my God would have told us. It is pure evil to decieve someone and my God can not and will not do that!

So do not say he did not die

P.S Jesus is and was the only perfect one.
Only God is perfect right?
If u say that Jesus was not perfect then i would ask u his sin

Probably because of the things that some Muslims do. They see that these few Muslims are killing people as well as themselves, in the name of Allah. They have a hard time believing that the God they know and love is the same God that these radicals are saying wants them to kill people. Do you know what I mean?

Each person must deal with his own idea of God, or lack thereof. Ultimately it comes down to what you believe and how it affects your own life. Why would one care about what anyone else thinks?

The word God is what each person makes it out to be. A Golden calf, David Koresh, Ra, or Zeus... though they have all been referred to as God by someone, they are not all the same.

because regardless of what religion you believe in, you're only following a human made doctrine, one that has been manipulated and changed to suit the governing powers at that time, or if others don't like it they simply make a new religion with their own spin on things.

all in all, religions essentially do the same thing for everyone, offer answers, and in many cases you can get answers to anything you like, it's all on interpretation.

i think if people really believe in God, then they'd realise that it's irrelevant of the name he/she/it goes by, as the essence of being good to others as you'd like them to be towards you is universal.

I knew that. I'm a Catholic and according to someone I know, they say that the Jews and Muslims are early Christians who parted from the original Christianity and formed their own incomplete or false beliefs on what's written in the Bible.

I'm sorry, no offense to Jews and Muslims. It's just what I think happened in the past.

Mainly because he's not the same. Allah is the Islamic god not the Christian/Jewish God. That's like saying all the Hindu gods are the same as the Biblical God just because they call them gods. You semantics don't work in this case.
