Seems like your readers think others have short memories, wanting examples. Like Billy Graham's efforts to ban the "gay" teletubby, or books like the "Catcher inthe Rye" being banned, or the move to ban birth control information (other than abstinence) from schools. They forget burning of Beatles albums because of an off-hand remark from John Lennon, authors of anti-muslim books with death sentences announced on them, and even attempts to ban "Harry Potter" from libraries. Until the Scopes trial, they actively blocked the discussion of even a possiblity of evolution, reminisent of "religionist" banning of writings by Galen and Galileo, to name a few.
No religion handles free speech. The power of persuasion is all it has, and free speech is the antithesist of that power. It will therefore never be welcome by any organized religion.
Final example - watch how many "thumbs down" I get even though everything in this answer is verifiably true.

I am sorry, but you are misinformed. It is the Nonbelievers that are trying to silence Christians. You are living in the year 2007. The Media now a days is owned by the Liberals along with our Government and our Schools. If you have a problem, vote Republican.
50 Students were arrested in CA. for wearing Bible verses on their T Shirts and suspended from their School and now they are facing Felony Charges, while the Homosexuals protested the day before.
2 Grandmas were arrested along with 9 others for singing Hymns and sharing the Gospel at a Gay Parade.
Where is the Freedom of Speech. It is being taken away in the disguise as Hate Crimes Bill.

this would properly be a stressful one. No, they don't extra healthful into the violations that maximum have gained. I had an account suspended with the aid of fact somebody asked approximately Yahoo curtailing unfastened speech and that human beings who replied questions falsely, could they be charged with any injury finished reason with the aid of the incorrect answer. I went on a small rant announcing that in case you took medical, laptop, financial, etc., suggestion from the human beings at right here heavily with out the different examine, you're an fool. undeniable and straightforward. properly, that have been given me suspended. No previous violations or something. have they have been given an actual to try this? sure. they have their policies, completely retarded that they could be. Does this pass against their project assertion? sure. quite everyone thinks of Yahoo as this exciting place to be and do exciting issues, except, you're on solutions. then you certainly've a thoroughly set of regulations, trolls that seek for human beings to restrict, and that i don't even decide for to remark on the "human beings" who evaluate the pleas to not droop debts or answer why you gained yet another violation. very final theory? Yahoo isn't the exciting place they make it out to be. approximately as exciting as Auschwitz interior the summertime maximum days in case you have a humorousness and attempt to tutor it on solutions. My account will in all probability be suspended day after today and you're basically making my element.

"We" are always being censored by "them".
I guess it just depends on who is "we" and who are "them".
Now, me, I am a Christian, and I am getting very tired of being told to keep my religion out of everyone else's sight. Sure, I recognize that not everyone is a Christian. I am not alarmed when I see a Buddha, or a minorah, or a pentagram, or any other such thing...nor does hearing an atheist say that God doesn't exist harm me or my children in any way. Why, then, the horror at the idea of Christian symbols in public, or Christian prayers?
Get over it, we also have the right to freedom of religion, and freedom of speech.

Who was trying to shut down that silly creation museum? Some even went so far as to say that it should be against the law to say things that were anti-science?
The concept of the museum may have been silly, but the talk of censorship was chilling.
That is the only instance around here I can recall when people tried to shut something down. Who has the problem with The First Amendment?

Free speech meant freedom to discuss, criticize and approach the government when we disagree. Somehow it got twisted to 'anything and everything one want to say, film, sculpt...however inaccurate, repulsive, threatening, even calling for killing Americans and destroying America.
So what if one group or another wants to restrict something. It is our 'freedom of speech' that allows them say what they want. The same as anyone.

Religionists are everywhere. Be careful.
This site is supposed to be 'open'. Religionists are not.
Scary.

As an English teacher I detest censorship. Some religious followers don't like to have anyone disagree with them, so they respond by trying to silence the voice.
