Man is made up of three parts. The body with the five senses for contacting the physical world and have body consciousness
The Soul with the Mind ..Will and Emotions to contact the psychological world, and which also is ones personality and self consciousness
And deep within man there is the human spirit which has three functions.. them being the Intuition, fellowship and Conscience. It is in our spirit that we have God consciousness.
Our Conscience is a key part of our being which keeps us in proper standing with God..
It judges us...
Our conscience approves or disapproves of things we do or say or think.
It is kind of a " middle man" between our spirit and our soul and serves to make us aware of what is of God and what is not.
The conscience in the spirit ,plus our soul make up the Heart of man.
Our conscience serves to bear witness regarding things that we should or should not do...
If we sin, it is our conscience which accuses us.
If we continue to sin and ignore the prompting of our conscience.. which in essence is God giving us a sense in our being that we have sinned.. then our conscience can become seared and numb and loose its function and capacity to discern what is good from what is evil.
As believers we need to take care of our conscience.. since it is what keeps us in healthy fellowship with the Lord and with other believers and people around us.
The blood of the Lord Jesus is provided for us by God to purify our conscience and our mind ( both of these faculties make up our heart.)
We as believers need to have a good and pure conscience.. and we are able to because of all that God has afforded us through Christ's complete victorious salvation.

Yes, everyone has a conscience. But with some people, their conscience is seared because they ignored it. God created all of us with consciences that are meant to protect us from doing things that could harm us. God gave us our consciences for our own good.

I have a conscience. It developed quite a bit as I grew up by living in the complete hipocrisy that was the catholic and christian religion. Constantly being told I was bad and what not to do while watching those teachers commit the most immoral acts. It taught me alot about how I did not want to be.

How did your brain get there? By evolutionary processes. Read, " Natural Selection and Social Theory ", by Robert Trivers and " Moral Minds ", by Mark Hauser. Then you will have a scientific basis for the evolution of conscience; not some Bronze Age myths.

God created us all with a conscience so we would know right from wrong in general. But, since we are all born into sin and are spiritually dead, some of us are born again thru Faith in Jesus Christ and have the Holy Spirit indwelling us. The Holy Spirit guides us into Truth, whereas satan lures others who refuse Jesus into deception. Thru Jesus, we are made spiritually alive and will remain alive forever with Him IF we accept and follow Him. God bless

Are you a scientologist? some poele in Psicolgy tried to explain conscience in different ways. Carl Jung, Karl MArx,Sigmund Freud,Carl Rogers. I suggest you do some research with the academics. The topic can be aproached from different standpoints. Sociologicaly, Psicologicaly and also spiritually. They all contribute to a better understanding of the topic.

Yes, I do. Depends on who you ask. Most will say it is an abstract thing or aspect of our nature that cannot directly be observed by quantifiable methods. Few will say that it's nothing but a series of electro-chemical reactions in the brain, but that idea fails entirely to explain what the "substance" of thoughts are. Unless, of course, you're Sam Harris who thinks after he gets his Doctorate in Neuroscience that he's going to discver the neural basis of faith. Stand by for Mulder & Scully.

Evolution: Groups of people who were willing to support one another and sacrifice themselves for the sake of the whole were the ones that won out. Those that stole from one another, murdered and fought a lot didn't make it. I know, it's not a very spiritual explanation, but hows are always different then whys.
