I’m home schooled and going into high school I'm not sure whether I should go to a public high school or take my GED test and go to college early or home school for four more years there are pros and cons to all of them if I go to public high school I’ll have to deal with jackass bullies but I’ll get to have a better social life, if I go to college early I’ll be giving up the rest of my childhood but it’ll look good on my future resume, if I just home school for four more years I wont have much of a social life but neither of the above cons will be a problems. So suggestions, advice, completely new ideas would be appreciated.

Take the GED. Your parents home schooled you for a reason, and that was to give you the best head start in life that they could. I can only speak for the high schools in my area and it seems that the only thing taught there is how to be a potty mouth and get certain unmentionable parts of their bodies pierced and tatooed. I work as a sales clerk in retail and I have lots of contact with high school kids and many cannot put two words together to convey across a simple thought. But I guess your parents will have to let you go sometime and I would hope their moral convictions are strongly instilled in you cuz you're going to need them. College is a challenge if you really intend to study. Push yourself with difficult classes and get the best education you can, because few of us get a second chance. I returned to school late in life and it found it pretty difficult because physically, I couldn't study the late hours like I used to when I was young.

Hey! I too was homeschooled (and I am again) through eighth grade, then attended the public high school as a freshman. I absolutely loved my high school experience. Bullies are a hollywood stereotype. True, there are good and bad people, but I found out early on that the key to success is in choosing your friends wisely. I got in with a group of very good friends, but also had a semester when I hung out with the "bad" crowd as well. I will long regret that semester. However, though I returned to homeschool for my junior year (not mom's decision--not based on my performance in the public school), I still attend social events through the school and keep in touch with lots of the good friends that I made there.

So, to answer your question, I would say go to the public high school--try it out for at least a semester, and if it doesn't work out, you can go back home. I do think that it wouldn't benefit you in the long run to start college this early.

Good luck!

Well, its up to you honey. As a teacher I say go to college. But as a person, I remember High school as some of the best and worst experiences of my life. Yet ALL got me to where I am today and I feel that I was well prepared to handle the atmosphere of college better through high school. College life is tough if you dont have the circle of friends from high school to help you through it.
So if the social life is more important and you want to live, go to high school.
If school is more important then go to college.
Public school however, better prepares you for the real world relationships you will have in life (both good and bad).

Just remember for me hun: You have your entire life to go to college and build a resume and be a great whatever. You can NEVER go back to high school and make the members that people remember for years.

I think the social experience of HS (4 years) is immeasurable in getting you ready for the world whether or not you go on to college. You need to mix with other people and have competition in the classroom too. Go to public school. You can probably get into HONORS classes or even take some pre-college courses for college credit (and those credits are free). H.S. is a great experience ~ homecomings, clubs, proms, band, choir, debate, phys ed. competition, etc. It is all a great experience. Go for PUBLIC SCHOOL.
You've had the home school. I think college too young could be a detriment ~ it won't necessarily look good on a resume. What you miss in the social scene, may be worse on your resume or after you get your first job and dont' do well.
ANY CHANCE OF GOING TO PRIVATE SCHOOL? Better education and you won't have to deal with the drawbacks of PUBLIC SCHOOL.

I would choose going to high school then on to college after that. The high school experience is one you will never be able to make up later and if you go to college now you will be around others who are not in your peer group, those who have been in high school and experienced the social aspect, those social skills are important as you go through life, don't worry about the bullies. good luck to you

i say definitely go to high school. a public one thats not to dangerous i lived in LA and you dont want to go to some of the public schools here. but i say go to a public school it will be a good experience and youll meet alot of interesting people and some jackass and for bullies maybe for the immature kids who are new to high school but they dont tolerate that in high school anymore. but go to a public high school trust your gonna have fun it might not seem very much but high school is probably the best 4 years of my life until i go to college. well college is also sometime really cool to cuz the age doesnt matter anymore and you could do whatever you want. but go to school college or high school dont get home schooled theres nothing wrong with that but i wouldnt want to be home school. and plus youll be like that girl from mean girls hahaha she was home schooled.

Go to high School and have fun. You don't want to grow up too soon because the fun stops after college. After college your life will suddenly get boring. Finish high school and go to college for 10 years.
