boo, "I think beliefs are not factors that can be used to judge a persons intelligence."
A lot of people who call others ignorant for "worshipping God" would differ with that.

I don't think religious affiliation has any affect on intelligence. I think beliefs are not factors that can be used to judge a persons intelligence.

As far as I know Newton is a Unitarian or Arian or anti-trinitarian.
So I think Newton is right, at least he's better than the followers of Athanasius.

And Mendel was a monk, and Darwin thought the life of a country preacher might be just right for a life studying nature.

And Pascal was a genius outside of gambling.

You theists, incidentally, are the yahoos - we're the Houyhnhnms, smart, rational, silky coats...

No belief in God is right. Belief in God shows ignorance of truth. Belief in God is usually the result of being raised that way. Belief is God rejects most modern science. Need I say more?

Newton also believed in alchemy. I suppose back then they really didn't have a handle on what was real and what wasn't - Newton did a good job on a lot of subjects, physics in particular, but he also had a lot of screwy notions - alchemy and god being a few. Also, I've read that he died a virgin. Poor guy.

Nope, but I respect newton as a mathematician not as a philosopher.
Edit
I don't understand your point, of course we pick and choose, otherwise we would be carbon copies(if we accepted everything we are told). You must not forget that science is an iterative self correcting process.

I think Newton's belief was right for Newton.

I don't think any man is 100% correct (or even nearly that) about God.

He was a mathematical and scientific genius, but no one is perfect.
