At the beginning of revelations it says about the church of Laocedia. This church is the lukewarm church that God will spew from his mouth.
I believe that we are in this age.... which is the last age before the rapture. People do not seem to care about church anymore. There are no die hard fans against or for the church today, so therefore we are lukewarm. This prophecy has happened and is happening.

The Bible was not created to be taken literally, and it cannot. Since Jesus spoke in Aramaic, and the oldest known New Testament books are written in Greek. Also, they've been translated to Latin, German, and now English. To be honest there is almost no way to know for certain what he would have wanted written down for mankind to read.
