With a spicy sauce you definitely want something with a bit of muscle. I'd try a Californian Red Zinfandel or Aussie Shiraz. You could try something from the Rhone valley like Gigondas or Vacqueyras, but the New World wines will hold up better against the spice.

i would probably go for a Ravenswood Zinfandel or Cline Zinfndel or Shiraz. shouldn't be more than $10 for any of them. All from Sonoma/Napa county area. I also here Yellow Tail Shiraz is quite tasty from Australia.
