I want to know from you guys what you think about NASCAR. Personally, I find it useless and a huge waste of gas and time. However, it does draw the biggest crowds and makes loads of money. So what do you guys think about it, are you for or against NASCAR?

honestly I thought exactly like you. I thought there is no way that I would sit anywhere and watch a bunch of cars go around in a circle. But I was invited to actually go and watch a race, and from that moment on, I was a NASCAR fan.
I think that if you ever get the chance to go to a race, go with an open mind. I got to ride in around the track going 180 for 4 laps. I went into the pits and talked to some of the drivers.
It is very exciting.
To watch NASCAR only on TV is not very exciting, but once you go to a race, I think you will change your mind.

NASCAR ALL THE WAY!!! Yes it is a sport, if you don't think it is, go pound sand!! a waste of gas?? Defiantly NOT!!
NASCAR has the BIGGEST crowds. Each track gets at least 20-30 thousand more than the Super Bowl and the World Series!! Plus its a lot more exciting than seeing a guy swing a large piece of wood at a ball and guys in spandex!!
I LOVE MY FOOTBALL but NASCAR IS THE BEST!!

Like someone else posted earlier, what are they supposed to do Flintstone it??

NASCAR is a Multi-Million Dollar Sport/Way of Life.

Without NASCAR hundreds of thousands of people would be without a job. NASCAR generates millions of dollars in marketing and sales. From the jobs in the shops, teams, merchandise sales, jobs at the tracks, NASCAR officials, TV jobs and so on. The gas is the least of the worries.

You probably waste more gas sitting in your car idling at McDonald's in a year because you are too lazy to get out and walk across the parking lot than 1 driver does in a season.

Why do you single out NASCAR? F1, NHRA, or IRL don't waste gas?

If you don't like it then do us all a favor and don't watch.

NASCAR is a sport. The drivers should have to pay for the gas during pit stops.

Here we go again. The will be tha 100th time I have put this up for you all to read. One 747 Jumbo Jet making a round trip from NY to LA and back, uses more fuel than all the cars in nascar from Thursday thru Sunday. And that is a fact. Now, if all those people on that Jet are going on vacation, is that just a waste of fuel??? WHAT TO YOU THINK? AND YES, NASCAR IS A SPORT.

To wit to woo!
Yes NASCAR uses alot of fuel and so does other forms of racing. But when you get down to if there have been inovations in the automotive industry thanks to motorsports.
But a night ball game uses a lot of electricity, isn't this a waste of hydro electric power? What inovations for daily life have been returned from the ballgame.
So it is a traid off and we can sit back and enjory our sports.

It is a sport like all others. The amount of gas wasted flying football, baseball, basketball players, etc is probably 100 times the amount of NASCAR. You don't hear much of a NASCAR driver being in a domestic dispute, murdering someone, drunk in a barroom brawl, etc. Clean fun for those who like it.
