I have a 94' Ram 1500 with a v8 Magnum. I am looking for ways to increase my fuel mileage without sacrificing the appearance of my truck. I.E. Remove the bed, tailgate, etc. I have already installed a K & N air filter, I will soon be getting 8 Spitfire high performance triple platinum spark plugs, a catback or flowmaster dual exhaust system and a cold air intake. Does anyone have any more suggestions for increased mileage? Thanks in advance,
Blake

to get more oomph without sacrificing economy it's better to reduce weight, engine friction, and rolling resistance.
Buy fiberglass hoods, fenders, etc.
buy lightweight wheels
buy aluminum heads, block and intake manifold, etc.( buy whatever you can afford)
buy skinnier tires to reduce rolling resistance
lose unnecessary accesories
replace back window, side door windows with plexiglass-lighter than glass.
remove all belt driven accessories and replace with elect. ones. (I.e. mechanical fan to elect. fan.)
change rear differential to a taller ratio for better cruising

You might want to try a computer chip change. A good performance chip will make the engine feel more lively, and possibly more powerful. But such improvements also tend to lead the driver into pushing harder on the gas pedal, and thus using more fuel. Using the platinium plugs, the dual exhaust, and cold air intake can usually accommodate an ignition timing advance which you will get from a computer chip change.

These guys have been making these kits for many years and have proven themselves time and time again to gain HP and more importantly gas mileage.
I'm not sure about the Splitfire Sparkplugs, I have never really had much success with them. NGKs are great. As long as your not turbo charged, the platinum should work fine for you.. for the price of the SF Triple Plat you may consider Titanium spark plugs -- mostly for the longevity of the plug's life. As far as for them 'burning hotter' to give you better gas mileage? I have seen better results from changing 'cheaper' plugs more often than I have using the more expensive ones longer.

Blake,
The best thing you can do is to use your head and drive softly. Don't stomp down on the gas pedal, drive at lower speeds, and try to get into top gear as soon as you can. Maintain an even and steady speed, if possible.

The improvements you have made will help with the mileage, but mostly it is up to you. good luck

exhaust change and cold air intake will not INCREASE your gas mileage...they will decrease it.

The only true way to increase gas mileage is to reduce weight. You can try homemade remedies like voltage stabilizers, ground kits, and fuel ionizers but they tend to just be a waste of money.

You can try what they refer to as the Tornado. It is placed between your air filter line to the throttle injection, The cost is fairly inexpensive and it is designed to produce more air into your fuel injection unit. The total time for putting one in a vehicle is something like 20 minutes. It increases your gas mileage and better performance.

\Please dont listen to the others here, some a very incorrect. Dont get a TB spacer , they are proven to do NOTHING, A freed up air intake will get you more performance and a lil more mileage. DONT buy expensive plugs, they wont get you anything, buy autolites, they are cheap and work as good as anything else. Drive soft, air up your tires..

enjoy

a bed cover could help a little. but what it comes down to is driving style. drive easy take off easy and let off the gas early instead of slamming on the brakes at the last minute. don't drive at excessive speed either. when i drive easy (which i admit is hard to do) i get 50 to 100 more miles out of a tank of gas. good luck

Exhaust. Get a severe circulate cat and a overall performance muffler. bear in mind, noise would not equivalent means, so learn a sturdy flowing muffler. ok&N and chilly air intakes do little or no for overall performance.

go to edge performance and get a computer upgrade.
there are many ways and calibrators to calibrate the chip for a better fuel mileage

and get a throttle body spacer..... they help.
