I am an atheist. Someone told me that the reason I am an atheist is because I don't want to be held accountable for my sins. I responded by saying "no, I just have not seen any evidence that he exists and I refuse to believe in anything for which there is no proof." He then went on some rant about how I am trying to justify my immoral lifestyle and how I actually do believe in God and that I am just trying to convince myself that he does not exist. I get the feeling that he is just being a mouthpeice for his church and that this is the general belief among Christians. Has it occured to you people that maybe not everyone is as obsessed with the afterlife as you people are. I don't spend every waking hour worrying about my salvation. I just go with the flow and whatever happens happens. That it.

I do believe in evoltion. I am an evolutionary biologist with a masters in biochemistry. You may not be convinced by the evidence, but I am convinced by the evidence that evoltion does exist. I am not going to debate you however because these creation evolution debates are never intellectual debates, but rather emotional debates. If you want to hear my beliefs, here they are. I think the universe is eternal and I don't think that God is necessary for existence. I don't think that something came from nothing, I believe that something was always here and that there never was a time when nothing existed.

And just for the record, evolutionary biologists do not think we evolved from apes. That would be impossible because apes are still here. Evolutionary biologists believe both apes and humans evolved common ancestor.

"I do not think it is necessary to believe that the same God who has given us our senses, reason, and intelligence wished us to abandon their use, giving us by some other means the information that we could gain through them." --Galileo Galilei (1564--1642)

I didn't worry about my salvation either. Until I started to realize my need for it. I think the reason that he talked to you like that isn't so much being a mouth piece for the church as much as he sees someone who is lost. As a Christian myself I know how he feels. If you don't have Jesus than you are lost. He is only trying to help you find your way. As far as evidence goes there is a lot of it. Try and find the book a case for the Creator. If you really want prof try here. It gives a Christians look at evolution. The flaws of it. What you do with what your friend told you is up to you. I hope you take time to read this book.

No such element. An atheist believes in NO god/desses. that could incorporate Allah,Ganesh, Kali, Isis, Thor, Gaia, Danu, etc...maximum English talking customers are at here and are raised Christian, yet i could say my morals & ideals are from a blend of empathy & society. i'm professional-determination, and so are many Xians and that i'm additionally vegetarian. The Bible is somewhat contradictory. That entire 'not killing' element? distinctive Xians do not seem to have a situation with production unit farms, the dying penalty or going to conflict. And in case you examine the OT, you do not could pass far to ascertain some tale the place the 'chosen ones' are commanded to kill. There are over 30,000 Xian denom's available...there's a reason.

Idiots!Christians have lives you know.Do we worship God yeah but its not like we just praise God and then think about praising God and are robots.I think who ever told you that you are coming up with excuses to not believe was dead on the target.Proof of His existence is all around us.How do you explain how we got here and how complex our bodies are?You don't seriously believe in the ridiculous theory we evolved from apes do you?I pray to God you don't!Before you get a temper and dismiss ever thing I have said sit down and explain the human race's existence to yourself and please do add something to your answer.i would love to see the excuses you come up with. Are Christians perfect ?Not even close the whole fact I am losing my temper is proof but we will be going to heaven and you will not. This life is a blink of an eye compared to the next.Do you honestly want to spend your life in a dark, scorching hot, prison tortured.Read the Bible a couple of times.Read Revelations and look at your fate.If your sure God does not exist take what will it hurt going to church and hearing our side of the story.

The way of humans is indeed odd. Some of us strive for the truth while others blind themselves from it. Who is doing which may vary depending upon the topic, but with one simple fact, it makes it all pointless, "We do not know the truth." I don't care if you follow Christianity, Muslim, Hinduism, Scientology, or Star Wars, you have chosen your beliefs based on your personal lifestyle, environment, and social interactions with those in it.
Everyone is an individual, (I know it seems strange that this should have to be stated) and as individuals we make our own choices based on our influences. If something as powerful as religion has been strongly influenced throughout your whole life, it may become hard to question the reality.of that concept. In the end, you can believe whatever you want as blindly as you want, but allow others the same freedom. There is no gain in forcing your beliefs on others. Either they come to accept it as if by no choice, or they come to dismiss it more readily. Either way, it is not a pure belief.

Christians have this idea that god is here, all around and in peoples lives or something.
So, they get all confused when people "reject" god.
Also, they assume anyone who doesn't believe in jesus is immoral or horrible in some way. And in their eyes, atheists sin, no only in not believing, but also because atheists probably do other things christians consider "sinful"
But, there are more reasons to be an atheist than that whole proof thing.

most christians dont truly love god because they love him so that they get something in return like heaven or whatever......and true love is given without expecting anything in return and christians cant do that and if it wasnt for the heaven or hell situation then they wouldnt care about some guy 2000 years ago. another thing that really ticks me off is how deluted they are and yet they seem to justify themselves by saying "but the bible says" or "but i feel it in my spirit" well if someone wrote a book that said...."go ye to arkansas and donate your kidney" does that mean you should do it? NO......and I feel lots of things in my spirit lmao...most of the time when im drunk but those feelings arent always correct now are they? relegion is a form of mental bondage....that society uses to keep people in line. but what i find hilarious is that some christians always come back with hitler being an athiest......but yet what he did had nothing to do with him being an athiest but yet there are so so so so many people that kill in the name of jesus but never do you hear someone murder someone cause they are an athiest so what does that have to say about christianity???? not much of anything good if you have an intelligence left in your relegiously deluted mind

Christians actually have lives. They don't spend every waking moment praying and reading the bible. Some yes, but most don't. According to Christianity, you have to believe in God and Jesus to be accepted into heaven. That's it. I don't know about any other Christians here, but the last thing i ever think about is an Atheist's salvation. Live the way you like. It doesn't bother me.

I may not go to such an extreme as your 'friend' did here... but I can certainly say that everyman has his god whatever conception of him you may have. You may be an atheist as in disagreeing with the Church, but without god there is no justification for your existence... As for after life, how do you justify your insignificantly short existence here without anything more?
how do you explain all the hard philosophical questions that may arise? (...your existence, your creation, your purpose?)
Going with the flow is basically trying to escape the hard task of being an 'individual'... and you just cannot do that!

Most believers have to have an afterlife. My Mom said she was more worried about my eternal soul. They are just victims of the mind virus of religion. Don't get me wrong, I love my Mama but I could never believe in what she believes.

i'm with ya booya, they're wasting their breath pushing thier beliefs. Nothing wrong with being analytical and needing proof. Especially when all we've heard so far is from mankind and we know people NEVER lie or make up crap. Har har! Maybe there is a god but until I find out for myself, I will be more than a bit skeptical.
Yeah, go with the flow, me too. What goes on in our minds ain't gonna change what happens after we are dead. Only thing we owe to anybody or anything is to be a good person in life, nothing else.
