why do people care so much about what others think and what others say about them?? why care ?? is it because people are so insecure?? is it because people get offended ??? or is it because what is said about them is true and the truth hurts??? i have never expirenced this before because i really dont care what others think or say, im secure in myself as a person, and i know who i am, alot of my friends are like this, they care to much about people who are meaningless why?

I've lived most my life not caring what others said or thought of me. It is how I feel about myself that is important. I'm not talking about ego but am I comfortable with me.

People care because it is very easy for people to gang up against them based on what someone else said. Especially so when you are the new guy. People will take an older acquaintance's opinions as fact, over whatever the truth is about you, and next thing you know, you are that weird unwanted creepy new guy.

I can understand not caring what a stranger thinks of you, but what about friends and family? I think most people are a bit insecure when it comes to close relationships because they mean so much to them. Consequently, most people care about it to some extent.

because humans have to measure themsleves against other people. Then once you get info you dont want to here you start becoming defensive
