First off, make sure you are identifying the larger fish correctly. Lots of times in the same area you can pull out smaller trout and other fish, the large ones are suckers. There isn't much they will take in the daylight, and very rarely will they take anything like a spoon or spinner. Usually they go for worms right on the bottom, or some other natural bait right on the bottom. Good luck! They are a blast to catch if they turn out to be suckers, but they stink to eat because of the thousands of small floating pin bones all throughout their meat.

you have to take several things into consideration. One being the weather. certain weather conditions effect fish differently and can change their moods. water temperatturea also has a drastic effect. It could also be the way that you are dancing the bait. The larger bass will hide in areas with a lot of cover and concealment. so you need to rig your bait as not to snag on these trouble areas. A texas jig works well here. also remember that bass are very picky about what they wil eat. they prefer smaller fish. That is their main diet so alot of your larger fish can tell the difference between a lure and the real thing.

Obviously you must follow your states fishing rules for the kind of bait or lure each body of water is managed for but if you can use live bait try some big live crawfish. Catch them in the creek at night and fish the monsters at night, too. (if it is legal) The biggest trout are very lazy because they are so big. They won't go far for a meal. and they are the most active at night. They have very good vision and in the day time they can see you casting your lure and they won't budge. anyways, try it if you can. Good luck

Does spear fishing interest you?

It's interesting that you have bass and trout in the same place. Trout usually like cooler water than bass do.
