I have a male cat i got 2 weeks ago and he isn't castrated (YET). He has this really oily, greasy area from teh base of hise tail to about 2-3 inches down. It gets matted really easy, I have tried to bath him with Dawn dish deterergent after I had tried cat shampoo ( I wated 3 days to do this) I even blew dried him but it just doesn't get any better.
I am a professional pet groomer and I know I have gotten all the soap out but nothing seems to work.
What can be wrong or is this ok??
I have been grooming professionally for about 15 years and I've never seen anythign like this.
Please help

It's called stud tail. It happens with unneutered male cats.

From a hairstylist point of view, i think of Mane n Tail is probably going considered one of the worst shampoos on the marketplace. It leaves the variety of buildup on the hair shaft, and consequently maximum persons think of their hair is "vibrant". if your hair is already oily, all this shampoo will do for that's weigh it down. It would not get interior the cuticle of the hair it somewhat is what you pick your shampoo and conditioner to do. It purely lays on the exterior and does not something. permit the product be used on the horses because it replaced into meant to do.

This is probably not what's wrong with your cat, but..
one of my cats had genetic kidney failure.. and it made his kidneys fail.
He had oily stuff on his tail and crotch area.
The vet said it was because his kidneys weren't holding in the toxins anymore and he was spraying himself because he couldn't hold it.

I'm sure that's not your case is your cat seems fine..
but I think you should take your cat for a check-up, or if you don't have the money right now... watch your cat carefully and if he seems to worsen, take your cat in.

Good luck.

Anal gland infected maybe? Is he spraying? Something wrong with his urinary tract? It could be anything - take him to a vet and let them deal with the problem.
